I know when the house is on generator power that there's a specific way to shut it down (video below). I did that today when we went to visit my dad so it wouldn't run while we weren't there, but we apparently have power back. I was thinking my SmartThings hub would come back online to let me know, but it hasn't. My Ecobees aren't up either and I know our internet is working as it's fiber and has had zero issues, but not totally ruling it out.
I'm guess when I turned the transfer switch off, it never transferred back to shore power (whatever it's called), so that's why.
When I get home, do I need to just turn the transfer switch on and it'll click over once it realizes power is back on? And then when I turn the generator to "auto," I'm assuming it'll see it has power and just go back into standby mode rather than starting. Is that correct? I see a video of what to do to shut it down but nothing on what to do if power comes on while you have it down.
