Zapped this with an electric swatter outside and have never seen anything like it. It's a little over 1.5" long. Any ideas what it is?

Yeah, cicada killer wasps. I have twenty five of them flying around my yard. I walk right through them. I may bug them but they leave me alone.

That is truly a potentially nasty critter that "If you don't bother it, it won't bother you". Watched two of them fight over a cicada on the Uvalde golf course one day. I took a drop.

I got to watch one get a cicada one day, it had to climb up 3-4 feet up a tree in order, while hauling the dead cicada, to get enough time to fly before it hit the ground.
