After looking at patio furniture over the weekend and not liking the quality or the price for some of the quality items, I'm thinking I might build a couch, 2 chairs and coffee table. Has anyone built wood patio furniture that they liked and care to share their opinions? Seeing lots of plans online for 2x4 and 4x4 frames that are sized for standard cushions.

I just did this about a month ago.

I followed the link below for the basic layout but tweaked the size to fit the cushions I bought. I also used 2x6s to make a solid back so the cushions would not fall through. I opted to make two couches, rather than the sectional, as that fit better in the space. Overall I'm pleased with how they turned out and the wife loves them. Now I just need to find time to stain them and they'll be complete.

I made a table and potting bench/drink station based on some designs on Ana White that turned out great. I used cedar in lieu of pine and I made cast-in-place concrete tops for the them instead of using wood per plan. Go for it!

One of my daughters has made several pieces of Ana White inspired DIY furniture. I have spent some time on her site and it seems to be very well done.
