I need to fill three huge troughs full of beer and have decided no more than four different brands so everyone can have something close to what they normally like. What would y'all do?

Yeah, know I'm gonna get yelled at for not having IPAs or micro brews or anything niche like that, but I don't drink a whole lot of beer anymore but at least wanted somewhat of a decent selection.

i'm a beer guy but those are all perfectly acceptable for a big party and accurate for a general crowd.

if i was hosting i'd for sure have shiner and dos XX. i'd probably throw in yuengling and blood and honey as the other two on my list.

Your first list is good. I like Modelo better than Dos XX, but it's splitting hairs. Could also sub Lone Star long necks instead of Coors is you want to "Texas" it up

That being said, people are drinking your beer for free. If they complain, tell them to **** off.

There are only two types of beer in this world, Lone Star and free. I think your list is fine, op. If you complain about free beer, you know where the door is. Not to derail the thread, but I can't be the only one that thinks Shiner in a can is a completely different beer than in the bottle, right? It is not good.

IPA guy here but for a three trough party I'd assume you'll be outdoors and I'd be killing the DosXX or the Shiner.

Also anyone who *****es about free beer can say adios mofo.

Had a party last weekend for 50+. Venue handled the alcohol but this was the break down of the tab at the end. Shiner and Ultra were over half the amount of drinks sold.

Most sold - Shiner
Close 2nd- Michelob ultra
Distant 3rd- Miller/Coors/XX/Modelo
4th - Whiteclaw type drinks
5th - Lonestar

I agree, but I would never do bottles in a trough. Too much risk of broken glass in the ice.

Thank you sir, this is very helpful. I completely forgot about Ultra, but I seem to recall that it might've gotten caught up in all that Bud Light fiasco so wasn't sure if there's still any kind of stigma that would keep people away from it.

Regardless of the Bud light fiasco with Ultra, if you're trying to provide something that will be drank, Ultra needs to be on the list. It's free beer, so no one will boycott it.

When we do big parties weprovide Dos X and Coors Lite. Parties are expensive and I'm simply not paying for expensive niche beers. Encourage everyone to BYOB, if it's a large party, expect people to pitch in a little. If they don't, the next invite gets lost in the mail. Lol.

Another beer snob here but agree your list is great for a big party. Snobby beers are not really big party beers.

My one difference might be less shiner and more mexican beers. I am class of '90 and drank shiner bock all the time in b/cs but when they got bought out by Gambrinus the recipe changed and for me its headache fuel now.

Consider Subbing out Shiner Light Blonde for the heavy bock. You get the local effect with a lighter beer suited for the occasion.
