I honestly cannot answer that factually whatsoever. If you are asking if I personally would be scared to run red in a newer pickup with a DEF system, my answer would be absolutely not worried about it. That is just my opinion though.

I say that partly because I have 6 or 7 pieces of Ag equipment that have DEF systems and they all run red.
I feel dumb, because the fact that newer Tier 4 equipment has DEF/DPF crap on it now just like trucks and that never entered my logic train.

I thought at one time there was a sulfur issue, so it was too much for newer trucks but I've had no issue with it in a 7.3 but it can probably run on extracted oils from cow ***** The new ones not so much.

Those older engines were just awesome. Still regret selling off my '01 F250.

When I used to work for a construction company we would have clear diesel and dyed diesel on larger projects. It would be delivered by the same truck. The only difference was the delivery driver would drop a red dye bar in the dyed diesel tank, it looked like a red bar of soap.
