Attracting turkeys?

I've shot turkey on our property, and last spring I called some gobblers into view, but at a distance and not inside my fence line.

My feeder (corn) draws deer & pigs (and today, geese). It doesn't seem to draw turkey.

Any ideas on something I can do in the next 30 days to get some of these dumb birds to come check us out?

We mix some Milo or regular hen scratch in with our protein pellets at our feeders. Milo is much cheaper than hen scratch and works almost as good. We have birds frequent the feeders a lot since doing that.
Turkeys are anything but dumb.

Might also try some decoys.

Ditto on the milo. We didn't really keep the turkeys hanging around until we installed a 400-gallon concrete trough and ran a water line to it, but that's not easy at a lot of places. Water is a big factor, along with roosting trees.

Offer them a ten year guaranteed contract.

Thanks. I can add some milo to the feeder easy.

I have some fantastic turkey dekes. The real girls would be better though!

I also run Milo in the corn spin feeders. I also fire the feeder just before they come off the roost to get them thinking breakfast. They will then move in and wipe out every kernel and seed. I'm also fortunate to have several roosts on my place.

Turkey love Milo - fill your feeders with it

Last bag I bought was $10 for a 50 back in the fall.

Is it still in that ballpark?

Paid 11.50 last week. Not that many years ago I paid 3.85.

Russell Feed & Supply in Fort Worth just quoted me $14.95 for a 50 lb. bag of milo.

I find it better not to scrutinize my feed ticket because I won't do anything different on the order, and it might just pizz me off.

We put a feeder out with hen scratch. They tend to love that.

I have a lot of turkeys on my ranch in Blanco county. I do have water on the ranch in a pond so that definitely helps. I feed pretty much year round on the corn feeders but you really can't predict where they are going to show up.

Black oil sunflower seed

Plant chufa later in the spring and they will hammer it next spring.

And clover is the perennial favorite.

Kudos OB.

Literally one day after I added milo to the feeder, this girl showed up. Now she just needs to tell her friends.
