Does anyone have a recommendation for a 4-6 man tent?
Are you looking for a tent to hold 4-6 full sized adults comfortably? Or a "4-6 man tent" that will hold at most 2 adults and 1-2 kids? My experience is that unless you are camping with multiple people you are willing to or already know biblically, the #-man ratings by manufacturers generally are double what will actually fit in the tent in terms of adults. A 2 person tent is generally two people in there asses to elbows or 1 person comfortably. A 4 person will generally fit two comfortably.kmarkos said:

I have had really good experiences with Kelty tents over the years. REI has this 6-person 3-season that seems like it would fit 2 people with cots pretty easily. Kelty Discovery Basecamp 6 Tent | REI Co-op It is $179, but REI is always offering discount codes if you are on their mailing list. They have a 4-person version too for $120, but that one might be a bit tight depending on the size of your cots. I have had good experience with the REI branded tents as well. Might look at their offerings there too.kmarkos said:
Over the years have had several different tents and my wife and I have camped either on the beach or in state parks. Looking for a good durable tent with space for the two of us on cots and thought that there might be someone on the forum that has found a tent that really stood out as a good buy and quality tent. Hoping to spend no more than about $175.
I used a Coleman tent during geology field camp in the early 90s and it survived a huge set of wind/dust storms in Moab that destroyed quite a few other tents in our camp, mainly because it still had aluminum poles instead of graphite. But my experiences with Coleman gear since then, particularly boots and other minor gear have been very hit or miss on quality.Martin Cash said:
I've only owned Coleman. Slept through several rain storms without a drop in the tent while fellow campers with expensive REI tents got drenched.
To stay in that budget, I'd recommend keeping an eye out on Steep and Cheapkmarkos said:

My parents have had the Coleman version of this tent for over 40 years and it is still going strong. It can make you sweat during the summer though!harge57 said:
In traditional OB fashion I'll recommend something way over your budget.
I have spent weeks at a time in this tent. It's great. Easy to set up, super durable, tons of room, no condensation.
