How long do you want to ignore this user?
Looking to take the RV (33' class C) to Guadalupe River State Park at some point this summer whenever I can snag a reservation. Interested in any feedback regarding specific park locations/campsites to target.

Last fall we went to Garner for the first time. I didn't do this research and totally regretted the site I chose. We didn't bring bikes and we were on the opposite side of the park from all the hiking trails and the main part of the river. Hoping to leverage others' experience to make the most of this trip.

Thanks in advance!

There are only 2 camping areas that allows RVs. Cedar sage loop makes main river area easiest access. But overall it is relatively small park. We always take bikes and make getting around easier for sure.

Turkey Sink is really the only area with water and 50amp electricity. There are a few sites near the main road that are pretty short, but the majority will have plenty of room for a 33' MH. They're all pretty well spaced so you have some room between you and neighbors.

Summer weekends turn into a packed sea of piss and the unwashed masses.

We took the kids to some little festival they had in summer for little ones to explore and learn about miscellaneous things. Hike was fine but you're right when we got to the river it was basically equivalent to the cheapest campground off river road on a holiday weekend. Drunks and rift.

That's what happens when you don't have the staff much less law enforcement in our parks unfortunately.

Well then, guess this changes my plans! Sounds like it is still worth the trip, but maybe hold off until Oct/Nov?

Read the linked thread as well. Guess I will look into Blanco SP as well.

Really appreciate all the comments!

Had fun at Blanco state park it's right in town and well regulated. If it doesn't have to be a state park look at Robinson park in Llano. We also had a blast at the South Llano River state Park in Junction. Plus from Junction you can hit Lost Maples.

Blanco is very small. And river is almost non existent due to drought. Guad state park is great after Labor Day. Sept can still get in river but fewer people. Llano State park is one of my favorites but haven't been in a few years.
