What did you do to help the rear end in your 3/4 ton with the bumper pull? My 1 ton squats a bit with this new 10k bumper pull, been considering either air bags or super springs.

Thoughts?

I had airbags installed on the rear axle of the truck. I want to say they were Firestone brand.

Lots of good discussion on this thread, and I appreciate the comments and thoughts so far. Here are a few more thoughts:

Rent before We Buy - We've been around friends with bumper pulls of all sizes and 5th wheels. We're focused on amenities as we know what we like and don't like.

Class A Options - I'll keep the Mountain Aire if I want to stay in a motorhome.

5th Wheel - I'm having difficulty considering this option due to requiring a 1-ton truck. I have zero other purposes for a truck other than towing an RV (I haven't owned a pickup in over 20 years).

We like the toy haulers because of the perceived ease of loading and unloading gear, particularly at tailgates (Penberthy RV season pass holder). Dragging our stuff (tents, chairs, cooking equipment, beverages, etc.) out and back in the Mountain Aire is a drag. Fold down the back door, and we're basically ready to tailgate?

Wasting time today (maybe not "wasting", but rather educating myself) and I've cruised PPL. Here is an intriguing example: 2021 Heartland Torque T322

Trailer Folks - Talk to me about generators. Yes - required? Nice to have? Or, Nope, can live without? I take the generator for granted in a motorhome. However, it's another engine that must be maintained.

If I could make only one suggestion for someone looking at getting a camper or changing styles, it would be to RENT before you buy. Outdoorsy is one of many websites where you can do short term rentals of people's campers and if we would've rented our 33ft gas motorhome prior to buying, we would've never had bought this style.
Some great advice. This is what I tell everyone looking into getting an RV

I carry a 2300watt Ryobi generator. It goes in the bed of the truck with a rally can full of fuel. I camp at pretty high elevations and rarely need an AC, so the genny isnt taken for AC, it is for everything else.

The problem with toy haulers is they're typically going to be over 10k lbs when wet and loaded with anything you'd want a toy hauler for. Potentially well over. The one you posted is 9k lbs dry and gross is almost 13k lbs.

My 1500 is rated for 12,750, but I wouldn't want to pull that weight any distance even at flat sea level. Definitely not any topography that's fun to camp. And you'll most likely be over tongue weight capacity anyway.

So you're still going to need a 3/4 ton truck. Now, opinions vary, but I don't mind a 2500 as a daily driver. Especially newer ones. 3,500s and duallies, no thanks. The ride around town will beat you to death as they aren't made for ride comfort.
