I have a wedding coming up in a couple of months and need a new pair of dress/polished brownish boots to go with a tan suit.

I wear an AFO brace on my feet so i cant wear the traditional slip on boots anymore. I wear Cody James lace up boots daily for work but these definitely have a rough work boot look and not a dressy appeal that is needed.

Curious if anyone had any recommendations, looking online i saw some twisted x brand that looked close but cant tell from the pictures if they still give a semi work boot look

Check with Texas Jacks in Fredericksburg. They do traditional old west and cowboy action shooting clothing.
About two years ago the wife and I were in there shopping and she bought a pair of lace up western boots for her to use while trail riding. They had some dress type for women and men as well. The men's were traditional western round toe and had a riding heel but were dress type boots. They had a dark brown and black....nice looking. Dont know if they would still have them or not.

Have zippers cut into the inside seam on normal dress boots?

James Leddy out of Abilene makes some nice lace ups for shelf boots, he even does custom orders as well. My father in law loves his lace-ups from James Leddy, he got them at the Fredericksburg Trade Days a couple years back. Kinda look like the Irish Setter wing shooter boots. I'd check with them and see what they have available.

I have a couple pairs of lace-ups from Helm. I use one for work/outdoors and one pair for dressier occasions.

ETA: These aren't western boots, so it might not be what you're looking for.

Have you looked at taking a traditional boot and having a zipper added to the back? We have stroke patients and kids with congenital disorders that have gone that route and are pleased.

Yes, yes they are, that's what a lace up dress boot ends up being.

There is nothing "boot" about that.

I've got more than a few pairs of Allen Edmonds, including the Higgins Mill boot. I highly recommend. Not sure what you guys are wanting, but he wants a dress boot, not something you wear with a suit and then immediately go outside and chop wood.

I thought he was looking for something more like this that actually looks like a boot.

Here's a lace up option.

Those are booties. NOT boots.

Was going to recommend Undandy. They made custom lace up boots for my Tux. But looks like they had major issues and went out of business?

The Allen Edmonds recommendation is a great one for excellent quality. They have a big sale now with several models on close out.

You can also try your luck on Nordstrom Rack App. Good discounts on name brand stuff.

If that's "style" then I want nothing to do with it. But I am straight, so that could be the issue.

Check out Thursday Boots.

The Cadet and Major lines are more dressy but they have other options as well.

Love my Justin lace up ropers. Have one pair I wear for work, and a pair I keep for dress occasions. Nice thing is they come in different shades of brown. There's a Justin discount store in Childress, where I shop for them.

I doubt these will fit if you have braces or orthotics. I have a pair and they're snug. I wear them but not as much as I want to because they can be tight. I've had them 2 years

Normal use something like this with a neutral crme polish.

If it has a burnished toe above still works great for normal use but every few years may need to get more involved like this:

ETA: but honestly when it needs to be that involved, I'm taking it to a professional shoe shine. Angel's Professional shoe shine does good work if you're in San Antonio.
