Group of 4 guys headed to Arkansas for a afternoon goose hunt Thursday. Duck hunt Friday morning. Outfit is called Commanders Corner out of Wilmot. Anyone with experience there?

Friday night in Shreveport. Any recommendations on Casino to stay at?

Saturday night in Dallas (Lower Greenville area?). Any recommendations on Bar to watch the games?

Sunday prepare for Yankee weather.

Avenue is an awesome spot on Lower Greenville to watch games. Good bar food and atmosphere, but it is better in nice weather when they open the doors up.

Stan's and Christie's also have nice TV setups. Stan's tens to be a little younger crowd.

horseshoe - don't walk outside alone.

How old is everyone? and only lower greenville? there are some awesome sports bars if that's what you're looking for or "a place with a TV but want to look at hot girls and get drunk" - different suggestions for that.

Last time I stayed at casino hotel in Shreveport it was Margaritaville. I would stay there again but that was 2015-16. Time before was at Sam's town and no way in hell would I go back there.

If I go there now I make a day trip or stay downtown at Hilton or similar.

There used to be a microtel in bossier city that was right on the railroad tracks. And I mean right on the tracks. It shook when the trains went by. Maybe don't stay there either.

Shreveport - marg-ville is what current reviews are saying. Not what it used to be. But not down to the others yet. Staying in the casino is a requirement for some of our group in terms of not wanting to travel or walk and get lost at 4AM qith cloudy vision.

Lower Greenville -

30 - single - birthday
32 - married
35 - married
38 - married

Birthday boy wants to watch football. I think a good bar and good TVs is the idea. We've learned our lesson with letting birthday boy date girls from the bar, so the "hot girls" is a little iffy. He needs a good 6/10.

Hot-crazy matrix he must learn.

Look at the press box downtown

Others noted in here are also good. That Henderson stretch with Knox street pub and what not can be fun.

I would say do Katy trail icehouse but it's going to be cold as hellll

Please let us know how your hunts go and if you are pleased with the guide service. The big ducks still haven't come down to Louisiana. But I'm hearing of great hunts in Arkansas… the further north the better. A friend of mine has a camp just outside of Texarkana but no big ducks down there yet either. It's just hasn't been cold enough to force the mallards down here.

Margaretaville, Horseshoe and the El Dorado are still the better casinos. The steakhouse in the El Dorado is very good. The best bar scene is still Superior Steakhouse in Shreveport. If you stay at the boats, the Flying Hearts in Bossier is popular.

Good luck

Do not stay at the bossier inn. Buddy of mine won a trip to the Independence bowl years ago. Hotel accommodations were at the bossier inn. There was a young couple in front of us paying for their room in change. Pretty sure they had just met. The hotel was horrible. My wife brought our own sheets. Pretty sure the room had been non-smoking for a good 10 to 15 minutes. Fresh roach guts on the wall. Bathtub really wouldn't drain while taking a shower. Shower shoes were worthless because you were ankle deep. I found a screwdriver underneath the air conditioning window unit. Not sure if somebody was using it to fix the AC or perhaps to stab the previous occupant.

We left Central Texas at 4:30 this morning. I'll be sure to report back on hunting results. Unfortunately the outfitter is about as south as you can go. Back bumper of the truck may still be in Louisiana.

Y'all making it sound like Shreveport may be more sketch than I remember. Its been many years for me. I was expecting Dallas to be the low point of the trip.

Ok, I'm a casino guy from Shreveport, although I now work in LC.

Only 2 real options for staying at a casino that I would recommend are Horseshoe in Margaritaville - and I'd choose Margaritaville first. 2 reasons: it's newer, and it's on the boardwalk, so in case you are looking for something else to do, it's right there (although still not a lot to do.

Gaming in Oklahoma hurt the Shreveport gaming scene badly, so most of the properties have gone downhill; they don't have the money to reinvest. If you HAVE to stay on the Shreveport side, Bally's would be the better one, but again, be careful downtown at night.

Feel free to message me with any questions.

Shows you how old Dallas has become. Stan's was a smelly old boozer when I was in high school in the 90s. It is one of my favorite joints in the world but it was never a hot spot for the attractive set.

Times two on Christie's. I used to frequent the uptown location before marriage, kids, career, and reality set in. I hear great things about the new setup on Greenville.

If you stay at Margaritaville you can walk down the boardwalk to Bass Pro, etc.

Same. Little water. Not a lot of ducks. Tons of geese. I mean tons.

Hopefully that last front dropped some rain on them but until it hard core freezes above them, it wont make much difference

Let's hope. We had few ducks. Timbers were just puddles.

What outfit do you use in Stuttgart? We hunt with 2W.

Commanders Corner - 8/10.

Goose hunt was a bust. 1000's flying over, but high and on a mission. Lay-down blinds were good and comfy, guide called his lunges out, decoy spread was a little lacking.

Duck hunt was as good as it could have been for the situation. We were ahead of all this cold weather and the ducks had not pushed down (as mentioned by others above). Pit blind was a good / basic pit blind. Guide did what he could with the bird we had. had 4 birds at 10:30. had 24 birds at 1pm. Super windy.

Lodge was good. 4 bunk beds per room. They schedule groups so that it is never over crowded and it showed. Very chill atmosphere. Food was amazing. Chef Eric is the man. 2 of the other 3 other groups there come there every year.

Margaritaville - Bossier City, LA - 8/10

Rooms were good, clean, comfy, good shower.

Seafood restaurant was quite impressive on taste and quality. Fried shrimp were bomb. Oysters were even good. Old Fashion was on point. Gator was above average, didn't even need the dipping sauce.

Casino has a more open feel than most which was nice. Not a huge floor by any means but we never had to wait for a table on Friday night 7pm to 5AM. $25 min on blackjack and roulette. Dealers were all pretty good. Drink waitresses were around when we needed them except for an hour or so around 3 or 4 AM. Drinks were strong enough but never overly done. As a group we left with an extra $300-400, so no complaints.

Lower Greenville - Dallas. - 6/10

Alamo Club - Burger was amazing. inside was reservation only, so we froze our butts off on the patio. the heaters did not do much.

Switched to The Old Crow. its just a bar, with 2 pool tables. not impressed. they did not have Peacock to watch the 2nd game.

switched to The Avenue Sports Grill. Should have been here all night. Staff did an amazing job with a PACKED bar. had NFL, NHL, and NBA on TV, good audio.

in general Lower Greenville was a pretty young scene and they were very annoying type of kids. Maybe I'm just getting old, but they were all idiots. A lot of Yellowstone cowboys and skinny jeans.
