Trying something new this year and want to be more particular about the meat we eat and feed to the young ones. I'm looking for some suggestions on Texas farms where you can order different cuts of steak, ground, and other meats. Wanting a place that is pasture raised and finished without all of the hormones and anti-biotics. And would be nice to support an actual family vs. a huge conglomerate.

So if you have ordered for a place or even run a place, please let me know. I don't think we are in the market for a half or quarter cow, so more of a place where I can order particular cuts periodically.

Thanks

Wait until you try organic beef milk. It's a game changer.

No help on the family farm, but if in TX, can always walk into a HEB and get their 100% Grass Fed Beef, it meets your other requirements.

It 100% doesn't and really none of the big box grocery stores carry what we are looking for.

These folks have a storefront in Dallas and one in Fort Worth. I think it meets your requirements.

If you are near Longview, this might show some options.

Call Bellville Meat Market (Aggie owned and operated) and ask them if they can refer you to ranchers that raise grassfed beef. Bellville Meat Market can process the steer for you. It brings the cost way down if 3-4 families chip in together. Plus, you need a lot less freezer space.

We eat a ton of venison but the wife wants some bigger steaks. I think the clean venison is what put her down this rabbit hole.

Your profile shows FW, so here's some ideas...
There's a coop in Cleburne that you can order specific food cuts from. Had some family buy their beef there when trying to cut out allergens for their kiddo.

We buy sides of beef from Cross M, and he has a storefront in North FW at a BBQ store but I'm not sure about custom ordering vs what he has.

Ranchers Fed Beef in Granbury might be another one to look at.

Don't know where you are located OP, but if around or near San Antonio, Grassfield Farm out of Hondo might meet what you are looking for. Wife and I were introduced to them via our gym, we have bought from them a few times, prices are what I consider boutique but they are a small family farm.

No help on Texas beef but Alderspring Ranch in Idaho raises and sells exactly what you are looking for. They have a good website but you may need to ask when they will have certain products available again.

The owners are passionate about being 100 percent organic. Even their alfalfa hay crops are organic. Their cattle graze in the Pahsimeroi Valley when grass is growing. Beautiful country.

Aggie owned too! If I was wanting this sort of product I would be buying from Jon, he is not new to this game and has a really quality product.

I have been in the cattle business since I got out of school. My daughter and son in law moved home two years ago and I gave them that end of the business. There is no middle man. Born here, stays to 2-3 years old and goes to the butcher. Our beef receives no grain, no shots, no pour ons at all. We are regenerative grazers since 2015, we move 3-4 times a day. There is no cleaner beef out there. Hickokhamburger.com. 2 generations of aggies.

Great people and the cattle are grazed on open land.

Their daughter is an Aggie!

How often will you restock items? Wife was looking at strips but was sold out.

What's the economics on this compared to a standard cow calf operation? Are we talking 5x the revenue or is it just a passion project thing for the same amount of money? With calves selling for what they are right now I'm just curious if it makes financial sense to get into the direct to consumer beef world.

I have used Paidom for years.

http://paidom.com/

The owner is an Aggie. Ask to be added it the email list. He delivers to the metro areas every other month. Email him then call him and understand what he does. The owner is just a really nice and knowledgeable person.

I would try the 50# variety pack for my first order.

I can forward the recent email with dates if anyone wants it. My email is in my profile.

If the Bendeles at Hondo (D'Hanis really) can't help you, my brother class of '08 can.

Parker Creek Ranch

Located just south of D'Hanis.

Been doing this for several years.
