Due to the wars in Ukraine and Gaza, the demand for gunpowder is fixing to get really costly. I saw the article on rantingly but don't see it anymore. Up to 7% increase on the cost of gun powder starting next month. I didn't see it posted so I thought I'd comment on it.

That article is on several sites now. Although they are predicting price increases due to military usage, I would think the upcoming elections will push much of what we can find now into the unobtanium category. Especially when the liberal media begins pushing the civil war scenario if Trump appears to be headed to the Republican nomination. 7-10% price increase will be nothing.

Everything is more expensive and going to continue to be more so.

Monetary policy has consequences, and nothing is immune to the effects.

I agree with others that I don't think the wars are/will drive price spikes as much as the political cycle.

One thing I am quite certain of is we are at or near a bottom in ammo pricing. It will almost certainly be more expensive next year. Whether it is 10% more or 200% more is anyone's guess.

One odd signal that make me think the margins on new brass ammo is pretty tight right now is how close the prices are in steel, brass, and remanufactured ammo. There used to be a pretty big price break for steel case or reloads. Not anymore. Some of that is because of the Russia embargo but not all.

The going price for 9mm range ammo is 24c a round right now. Buy as much as you can.

Just did a quick look back to see what I paid for powder over the years. This is the cost for an 8lb jug of BLC-2.
2010 - $117
2012 - $132
2018 - $191
2021 - $176
2023 - $226

I did buy a 5 year supply of powder and primers earlier this year thinking things couldn't get much lower.

Have people not been buying over the past decade? I refuse to buy at prices where they are. The whole $0.10 for a primer is ridiculous but I guess as long as people will pay it, why not just keep raising prices.

I think that's the real dilemma now….I 100% agree primers are too high. But I also am
Running out. So feel pushed into corner. It sucks. Bad.

I've bought a bunch of the $50-60/k primers and they work fine. I've tried Servicios Aventuras, MKE, Ginex, Aguila, and Murom. The Aguila are the only ones I wouldn't buy again. The cheap ones I've tried are very hard, don't reliably go off in my guns that have lightened striker/hammer springs but are reliable in stock firearms.
