Have been working on just a few mounts for a fellow OB guy. Finally finished my pawpaws desert mule deer from 1973! He had it shoulder mounted that year…but mawmaw wouldn't let him put it in the house. So it lived in the garage for 30 years or so. This is back when they still used dry preserve as well. And to top that he had a gun rack made with the hooves. Wish I'd snagged that but it's long gone.

Anyway. The mount had gotten pretty bad, so I removed the horns and brought it back to life. Great to keep his memory alive. The last hunt I went on with him…I was maybe 10…and I shot a spike desert mule deer. Will never forget it.

These are the other mounts.. still have 6 to finish.

Those look great! I had the buck I shot last season mounted similar (although with hair/hide as opposed to leather) as my granddad had a few on the wall in his house when I was a kid.

Thank you…I like them a lot. Actually prefer it over a skull mount in most cases. Most skulls just don't have the look I like.

Honestly, I can probably make them out of whatever you can dream up. These are what Lowe's calls whitewood. I've done them in oak as well but typically go with whitewood. Keeps the cost down.

Those are cool too…I've never done one that way, but I like the look. I'd assume getting the hair to lay right could be challenging.Can be tough enough sometimes to get the leather the way I want it as it is.

My dad used to mount all of my deer this way for me when I was a kid. There are a bunch of them still hanging up in my old room at my parent's house.

The bromandingo did 8 sets of antlers for me and I was very impressed with quality and consistency between each rack. Anyone local to BCS looking to have a horn mount done I would highly recommend having the bromandingo do them.

I shot a deer right after last Christmas and at the time i didnt think much of his rack. Decided to cap and bury and deal with it later. Uncovered it yesterday and bought a $10 mount from Academy. I usually get euros done so first time doing antlers myself. Not terrible but next time i'm gonna to try this with a better piece of wood.

I'm in town and have a head I haven't done yet. Do you do euros?
