Do y'all plug them up as soon as you see them or do you set snares? What's better for keeping coyotes out? I've always set snares when seeing holes, but our coyote problem has gotten out of control so I've started to cover them up with rocks.

We set snares and have filled with rocks. Where's your place located? We are covered up with Yotes around the Waelder area.

Snares would be my choice, especially if you can check them regularly.

What if you can't check the snares regularly? Still better than plugging the holes?

If snares…what are the best ones out there to order? What is an ideal circle size when setting them? It is CONSTANT indeed!

We snared 60+ over 2 years in Freer. Don't remember the size, but I'd say probably large. The size of the loop was about a bowling ball, and we'd attach the free end to high fence with a carabiner. If possible, we would use rocks to close off the edges and direct the yote thru the snare. One of the best memories for my boys is running fence lines whenever we'd first arrive.

#330 Conibears should do it or some #2 Victor leg holds.

Check out snareshop.com for snares. I like the 5' lengths with a micro lock or cam lock snares with a swivel. As far as snare loop size for coyotes somewhere around 8 or 9" is what you want but it will be somewhat dependent on the hole size. The most important things for getting a high catch percentage is learning to "load" or "spring" your snare, getting your snare an inch or two off the ground, secure your snare to the fence as far as possible away from the hole and about 18" off the ground and making sure your hole size and snare size are appropriate (if the hole under the fence is huge fill in the edges to create a funnel using dirt, rocks and sticks). In the last couple of years I have snared well over 150 bobcats and 100 coyotes at my ranch in Duval county.

Great info ^^^! That would have been good to know. We learned from trial and lots of errors.
