If you use one, do you like it? Which one do you use? I need something more stable for my boys. Been using just a trigger stick, which I like, but that doesn't clamp in place like the deathgrip appears to do. I think they would benefit from it.

Money well spent. I have two of the aluminum ones. A bunch of guests have used them and gone and gotten their own. Helps with recoil too.

I have one. It's great but gets heavy if you are walking a lot. I've looked at getting a primos trigger tripod and putting a saddle on it. Wish I would have instead of getting the Death grip.

I actually bought one today based on a recommendation from a buddy. Turns out Amazon has it on sale for around $125. Cableas/Bass Pro had some of the higher end ones on sale also.

In the end, I decided it's best to either the base model aluminum, or if I'm concerned about weight or different use cases like photo/optics, get the tripod I want and add on the loose deathgrip head.

I have the carbon fiber version, it's pretty light and a good solid platform. I don't use it all that much, but when I do it is really nice to have.

I have used this for my son in a blind. One of the best purchases I have made in a long time.

That's crazy. It's already back up to the $147 price. Amazon is screwy like that. I only bought it from Amazon because I checked the price before entering the order at academy. I think Academy is $180, but they're running a 20% off sale so it's only a few bucks more.

I have one - It's great with a standard bolt gun. With an AR if you're trying to clip it on the foregrip, the weight of the gun causes mine to fall backwards. I have to wedge something with a leg of the tripod and a mag to balance it. Much better with a standard rifle where you can find the center of balance

I hunted out of my popup blind Saturday night without any real support and ordered the BOG on Monday. Ain't going through that again.

They're a great entry level tri-pod, and if you're not rucking them around much between sets predator hunting or otherwise weight won't be an issue.

I have the same issue with my ARs using the BOG.

Huh. Can't say I've had that issue with mine, keep the pivot nut tight and it holds just fine.

That's a rookie recommendation. The ball head on my tripod costs almost that much.

RRS if you really wanna buy once.

I've cranked mine as tight as it will go and still just falls backwards. It's great with a long gun.

I love my DeathGrip. Have even toted it around on an elk hunt for my Dad, and it came in very handy.

I had the normal one, and then my Dad got me the lightweight version after our hunt. I don't notice that much of a difference, to be honest. But, they are rock steady. If I'm hunting from a ground blind, the DeathGrip is always with me.

I almost bought the carbon but think it was only like 1.5 lbs lighter

I have just the saddle that I can pop onto the same tripod I use for my spotter. Much lighter but does sacrifice some stability. Kiddo likes it very much.

I do spot and stalk pig hunting and I had the BOG but only lasted 6 months before one of the legs started to fall apart. The clamp itself is easy to tighten on the gun, but it has a good bit of wobble to it.

Once it broke, I switched to the Kopfjager and although it's a little more expensive, well worth the difference. Much lighter, more stable and without a doubt more durable.

Don't limit yourself to tripods that are marketed solely for firearms. The Bog DeathGrip uses the basic clamp for sporting stocks (Rem700, etc.). There are much better options where you aren't paying $$$ for the marketing.

1) Find a good tripod (the Bog is fine, but plan on removing the head). I use these which are a little heavier but much more stable/durable: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08KGDBV9T

2) Replace the head with this (way smoother and better quality): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07ZYY7MQ4

3) Outfit your M-lock or Pic rail rifles with an Arca-Swiss Rail Adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NRMZC95 or for sport stocks, purchase the Bog DeathGrip clamp by itself: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083CDQRS9

Deathgrip is a great price point shooting tripod. Good to see the OB recommending things 5x the price.

That appears to just be a link to a set of tripod heads. Is that correct?

Yes. This is if you already own a tripod.

It contains a new tripod head (Great Divide Head 1137118) plus the "Bog Pod Deathgrip Ultralite".

Honestly I'd add an arca rail on my gun as noted above instead of one of these clamp type gun holders. This works well if you already own a heavy weight arca swiss tripod.

There are ball heads for tripods that will accept both a picatinny rail or arca rail. Kinda pricey, but I like them more than the clamp style grip.

The guys I know that hunt a lot at night with thermals all started out with Bog Pods but have all upgraded due to durability issues with the Bogs not holding up to repeated use. So I feel like there is a reason why it's priced lower than some of the others, but with as high as some of the setups are, you could go through multiple Bogs and still not be set back as far money wise.

This one is more expensive, but already has a ball head and arca plate with it:

Most of my competition shooting friends are running this as their base, plus a rest and bags. Just glad I don't shoot in open division so I don't have to buy this kind of stuff.
