Does anyone have a Yoder smoker, and how do you like it? Was thinking about a Traeger, but the Yoder seems like a sizeable step up and American made. Thanks.

While we're at it has anyone chosen between Yoder and Pitts and Spitts pellet grills, and if so what determines your choice?

I've had a Yoder for 4 years and love it. I need to figure out what the issue is with the igniter - not firing up. May just need cleaning or possibly replacing. But I wouldn't trade my Yoder for the world.

Have had a yoder for several years. I think its a Ys640 with competition cart that was powdercoated maroon instead of the ugly burnt orange stock color.

Purchased over others so I could transport to tailgates and the farm. Now it mostly sits at home. Its big, efficient, and works.

Only issue I have had is a bit of flaking paint near the handle (like most smokers) and the igniter **** the bed a year ago…I replaced it with an all new design and so far, it works.

I'd go with a cheaper one like rectec…. Unless you need the cooking space and will need to transport it.

I went through the market of pellet grills two years ago and ended up getting a Lone Star Grillz. Other finalist was Pitts and Spitts but the LSG had a better controller.

I'd make the same decision again today. LSG has been flawless.

I have had a YS640 for almost 10 years now and have been pretty happy with it. I have had to replace the igniter once and the thermocouple twice. Still works well, pit is still in good shape in spite of my lack of maintenance on it.

Yoder is awesome. I've had the 1500 and now have the 640s. Buy once, cry once.

Note: Smart money says go with the pitboss and save the difference. But what fun would that be?

Could consider a RecTec.

I've had the Yoder ys640 for 2 years. I've been very happy with it. Maintains consistent temp on long cooks and gets hot enough for a great sear.

I am a happy owner of a Yoder YS640S for almost three years. I have had no issues yet. Everything works and looks perfect. I am pleased with the heavy construction. I was also pleased with how well the manual was written on how to put it together.

Edit to add: I forgot about this. When I got everything together, I noticed that one of the temperature probes had a bad spot on it. I let them know and they immediately sent me a new one.

Also, when I bought it, I took it home in the back of my pickup and set it up by myself. If I didnt have a front end loader i would have needed more people to help get the heavy thing out of my truck.

I love my Yoder. Built like a tank. Much thicker steel than Traeger. No problems with mine in past 5 years.

Have had a YS640 for over a year now. Love it. Doesn't play well with knottywood plum pellets but otherwise has been excellent.

+1 for lone star grill. The built in FireBoard controller is consistent and easy. I don't think you can go wrong between lsg, p&s, or Yoder. All are premium pellet grills that are made in the USA.
