there is good water throughout Cimarron State Park downstream from The Holy Water to where the river crosses under the road at the east entrance of the park.
Also this is the best time to fish the Rio Grande Gorge out of Taos. Bring a headlamp and don't wait too long to start the hike out.
It is still pretty but you don't want to try to fish the Valle Vidal or lower stretch of the Rio Costilla this late in the year. The steam flow out of the lake on Vermejo Park Ranch is controlled by irrigation demands. it shuts down to a trickle after September.
