Truck Bed covers are outdoors?

I currently have a Roll n Lock bed cover that came with the truck when I bought it used. I like it because it rolls away and maximizes bed packing ability. However it doesn't so much "lock". As I drive it always comes open so makes having a cover pointless so I'm shopping for a new one.

Debating between another brand that rolls or the BackFlip. Just concerned about the backflip not being able to stow away to maximize the bed usage…but I know it won't come open. It being hard is also a bonus so you can't cut through the cover either.

Anybody have any bed covers they love and are practical?

I use the tarp style roll up bed covers. Like them because it maximizes bed uses. Only select the ones that mount on top of the rails and not into the bed.

In major long term downpours you will have some leaking around the edges but does a good job. It will get dusty in the summer in there.

Pros: rolls all the way to the back window. And it's quick to deploy. Very affordable.

Cons: some rain leakage at times. Not a secure lockbox.

Very happy with my bakflip mx4. If I kept expensive tools and stuff in the bed I would want better. I don't keep much in the bed, unless I am going hunting or golfing. I feel good about going into Bucees to take a dump and my stuff still being there when I get done. I will probably not own a truck without a bed cover again.

Diamondback switchback seems to be pretty waterproof and secure from theft

Before you get a Bakflip, you might investigate the security and warranty issues that owners have encountered.

I have used Diamondback covers on our last two p/u's. Excellent security and solid construction. Takes a lot more than a coat hanger to get into them. Their only downside is that if you need to remove the entire cover, that it takes about 10-12 minutes. But again - they are *very* solid.

Your roll n lock probably needs a little adjusting or new lock or tailgate bar

I used one for years and had a few problems like you mentioned but was able to resolve them

Agreed it just needs to be adjusted. Sounds like the rails are just a bit too far apart. Try moving them inward at the tailgate.

LoMax has been good for me. Better than the BakFlip on my previous truck.

I have a Gator on my new truck after having a bakflip on my old truck. Same exact cover and made in the same factory. Different branding, same product

this - get a LoMax! I got the stance that can fold up against the back window if you need the entire bed, which I do on occasion.

I have a Truxedo Sentry CT and I love it. It rolls up like the vinyl ones, but it's metal and can't be cut through. Rolled up doesn't block the window, it sits about as high as the back seat headrests. It doesn't have a canister, so full bed is accessible. It sits over the rails, so doesn't let water in at all.

I have always had a BakFlip, and been happy. Good customer service from when I was driving and didn't secure the folded up section and it got blown back shut and cracked a piece, they sent me a replacement for no fee.

However, the LoMax seems to have good reviews here. I like the stance due to being able to fold up against the back window. However, I do not like that the anchors are secured via an adhesive on top of the cab. I prefer the BakFlip style for this. Has anyone had any issues with the LoMax and the anchors on top of the cab?

The Lomax I have (recommended by 1ags on here) doesn't have an anchor system on the cab

I have the backflip MX4 with much hail damage from last huge hail storm. Trying to decide if I want to replace it. I do like that it folds all the way up against the cab when I need the entire bed.

I DO NOT recommend the undercover flex.

Backflip MX4

I like it because it's easy and it covers what I have in the bed. If you wanted to get into it I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard but I don't keep expensive stuff in the bed. Usually baseball equipment and ratchet straps.

Yes, but they have new one out called the Stance. It does. The Stance model is able to fold up up similar to the Bakflip bed covers.

I love my diamondback. They just came out with a tri fold that looks pretty awesome and practical. I got mine to be waterproof and provide security. It has never failed me.

Whatever you do, do not get a GatorTrax roll cover. Looks great and great price, but after a few months the first one would not stay shut and leave about a half inch gap between the tailgate, and it bowed in the middle, they did send a replacement but a couple months later, same half inch gap between the tailgate and cover and let water in the back.

Bakflip MX4. I will say it took 3 tries for them to ship the correct top. Twice I got kits that were labeled for the truck but clearly were not. Rails way too long once and a top way too wide the second time.

Bakflip Revolver x4s.

Have had roll n lock, MX4 and fiberglass over the rail; the revolver x4s beats them all hands down.

I have an over the rail, hard top tri-fold I got on Amazon for $600 intending to use it just for deer season. Love it so much it's been on my truck over a year. My tailgate locks and the cover can't be removed without the tailgate open so it's secure.
Only leaks in the heaviest of rain storms or at the car wash. I can take the whole thing off in under 5 minutes if needed. I knew I liked it but after I looked up the cost of these y'all are talking about, I like it even more

I have a diamondback that I had to remove off of my Denali when I traded it in that I'll sell you for half price. Good as new.
My new truck has a shorter bed length so I can't use it. Extreme security and waterproof

We just got a Lomax Stance for our Superduty from Luke and it was $980 delivered. Loving it.

Thanks everyone for all the feedback. Think I'm gonna go with the MX4. Seems really well liked here and I like the simplicity of the design. Also I stumbled upon their BakBox which is a stow away toolbox that fits under the cover. Pretty slick.

I had a Bak Flip on my last truck. It was great, but when I got my new truck, I decided to not replace it. I wasn't hauling as much stuff in the bed as I was 6 years ago. I also found that there were more times than I anticipated that I need it rolled up to haul bigger things. When flipped up, it took at least 9 in of bed space away. More than that, I didn't like not being able to see out the back window when hauling larger things.

Bak Revolver x4. There is a discount you can get on those, check the Automotive Board. You may be able to get it on any Bak product.

I went through Luke as well for my Lomax bed cover a couple years ago. He was great to work with.

Just as a point of reference, I just purchased a Roll N Lok A series w/ the T slot rack rails for my 2020 Ram 1500. I went to Johnson GT here in Houston to look at a few options in person and they quoted me ~$2,335 + tax & $125 installation.
I called Luke and he had me email him the info on my truck and the products I wanted. After all info was put together, he quoted me $1775 + tax; Shipped to my door within a week and I'll install it myself this weekend.

Hard to beat that IMHO.

Looking into options for my Titan. My F150 had the one piece hinged cover which I loved but don't want to drop the money on it again. Anyone have experience with Pergaon bed covers? Interesting design but reviews are hit and miss on the water leakage.
