Looking for the most comfortable cowboy boots y'all have found. I have issues with my Achilles and plantar fasciitis so looking for something that is comfortable walking in. Sucks getting old!

Am I probably looking to get a boot and then get good insoles? Or are there boots with good cushion to them?

My recommendation is, don't take recommendations.

What is great for me, might be terrible for you.

Try on 40 or 50 different pairs.

Anderson bean are by far the most comfortable boots I have every owned.

That's including 3x more expensive pairs from "high end" boot makers

I like Ariat's sport square western. They're my working boots because I know they'll be comfy. I'll probably buy another pair and keep them from getting beat up just to wear anywhere I know I'll be on my feet for a long time but still want to look halfway decent

If you're looking for everyday, do all boots, Ariat's have been good to me for everyday wear. I work in construction and these are nice enough to wear to an office, but not so nice that I can't go walk a jobsite. The ones I'm wearing now are Ariat Arena Rebound.

Redwing Pecos are comfortable, IMHO. Some would argue they are work boots as opposed to a traditional cowboy boot, though.

I have the same foot issues. Also my feet look like bricks they are so rectangular and I have religiously worn Double H for decades now

This. I have been wearing them daily for 25 years. Not necessarily riding boots, but i haven't found anything more comfortable once they are broken in, which can be a b&$ch..

Get you a custom pair. Nothing better than having them drawn out to your exact foot shape. He's made two pair for me for a reasonable price, not much more than a high end off the shelf boot. He's based on El Paso but travels around. He comes to a trunk show in Alamo Heights in SA every year around stock show time.

Anderson Bean for the more casual, non-steel toe work boots.

He's making a pair for me right now.

Beck Cowboy Boots.

https://beckboots.com/

I've worn them nearly everyday for the last 10 years. Have 3 pair. One has been re-healed. They will send you a sizing kit. Pick your style, leather and upper colors (I suggest maroon) and let
Jeremy and his team do the rest.

Customer service is outstanding. My son's pair were too tight and Jeremy paid the freight on the return and made another pair.

Here's the lineup:

Same problem with heel issues. Heel heights have an impact. Ropers with a 1 inch heel and good inserts work for me. Find out if you have a low, medium, or high arch and get inserts that match. These are good.

I have been wanting a pair of Beck's for a while but I need a new pair of boots like I need a hole in my head.

When I don't need a nicer boot, I wear my Ariat work boots. When I want something more practical, lighter, more comfortable, and gives more support - I wear my Solomons.

I use these and the difference they make in any shoe/boot is remarkable.

OP, what is the intended purpose of the boots you are looking for? Show? Dancing? Going out and looking nice for a few hours? Working outdoors?

I have have had Ariat, Red wing, and Double H. You need to try on everything. My redwing are ok but lace ups. They are very comfortable for me, they had a sole issue I had to have warrantied a month after buying, but they took care of me. My Ariat, have lasted forever, EH rated, great for working outdoors on foot all day long. Same with my Double H. Those are twice the price but USA made. All are square toe because my foot is shaped like that. However, if I'm working cattle on horseback, for instance, I have my high heeled more traditional riding boot. It's comfortable and works better for that purpose. It is not overly comfortable if I am going to be on my feet working on fences or rock surface all day, though.

So, the purpose you intend might help guide folks to helping you out.

Redwing are about the best work boot around. Have worn them for decades. Not a traditional cowboy boot.

Recently had Little's Boot Company here in San Antonio make me a pair. They have been around forever and still owned and operated by the same family. I have had custom boots before but this pair is just outstanding.

I work in an office but wanted a new pair of boots to wear with the new "jeans everyday" work environment they implemented after COVID, so I went to my local Cavendars and began trying on boots. I ended up with a pair of Ariats. They were a little tight when I tried them on, but I knew the leather would stretch. Now, I don't know what a pair of custom boots feels like, but I can't imagine them feeling better than these. They are like a glove to my foot now and are as comfortable as a tennis shoe. Break in was almost non-existent and no blisters. I did wear thick wool socks the first couple of weeks, which helped stretch the leather, and they are my go-to for almost anything where I need to wear jeans, even over my more expensive Tony Lama ostridge boots.

I should have clarified. I do auto damage appraisals and do all of my work in the field. Really looking for boots for that purpose that I can also throw some mink oil on for church, etc.

Sounds like Ariats or Red Wings are probably the best of the options out there.

I bought a pair of Ariats in 2004 as a freshman at A&M that I still wear pretty much every day to work. I had them re-heeled last winter for the first time. They are by far the most comfortable boots I own, and can be worn for pretty much any occasion in the field or office.

Red wings are definitely not church boots although they are comfy for a non cowboy boot option

My Tecovas are most comfortable i have. I got 3 or 4 other brands just gathering dust now cuz i always grab the tecovas. They have cushy insoles and heel pad rubber is thicc. I also always buy one size bigger than my regular shoes.

Two recs:
Get a custom pair. I think every man needs to have at least one custom pair of boots in his life. I can wear mine for 18 hours with no problems. My current pair is Mercedes.

Go to one of these stores that make custom insoles. My daughter had to do that as a kid because of instep and weak ankle issues. They were pricey but they kept her feet healthy.

This right here. They fit my feet like gloves. I have two custom fit boots that don't fit as well as these off the rack. Not sure if they'll fit you the same but AB are my favorite.
