Read the thread title carefully before responding. I am definitely NOT looking to go night fishing... ha ha!!

I have a group of guys I need to take to catch some stripers on Texoma. Open to a combo trip with cats too (if that's a thing).

The guide I used to fish with retired years ago, so I don't know who is running good trips these days.

Also, is there good fishing in the fall/winter, or would we be better off fly fishing Broken Bow this fall and waiting till the summer slab run for the stripers? I've got 3 guys who have never done this before, and I want to make sure their first experience is very positive.

Thanks!

Fish with him 2-3 times a year. Always have a good time. Great guide. Will put you on the fish. Some pics from my April trip.

He's done a great job on several trips for me. Including one in late October/early November where the wife and I got to the dock and straight on the water around 7am in the low 30s with a heavy drizzle. We killed them.

He works with the Catfish Bay Marina Striper Guide Group. I've been on multi boat trips out of that marina, but always with Brad. Those guys are all good at Catfish Bay. He updates his FB almost daily with catch reports/pics. Looks like they are hammering the fish right now.

So the greatest civilization is one where all citizens are equally armed and can only be persuaded, never forced. It removes force from the equation... and that's why carrying a gun is a civilized act.

Anyone else get a red flag feeling from someone who can't smile in a picture? Specifically someone who's taking a photo with a customer of their business?

Que?

I'm pretty sure that's the poster that isn't smiling, not the guide.

Yeah, I took that to be the poster. The guide is grinning ear to ear with giant catfish on his website.

Bahaha I'm an idiot. Looks like a good time, but I can't tell by your facial expression.

If you want to chase them on the fly look up Steve Hollenshed.

Still, if anyone misreads it and offers suggestions, how bad would that really be?

I tried that about 2 years ago, based on OB board rec's. Went out with Steve for my birthday. Even though it was July, and supposedly they had been doing great, we couldn't raise a single fish all day. Not a swirl or sniff- and we were slinging all morning, blind casting hard. Just one of those days I guess. He seemed to be a little bummed about our trip, but not too bothered by the lack of action.

I would love to try it again with him. Or I might try and take my kayak out there and throw some flies at them on my own, now that I live fairly close to Texoma.

It would certainly be a dream to tangle with any sized striper on my 9WT!

Redfish are also next on my fly fishing bucket list! I tried a guide in Florida for reds last summer, and we struck out too. It had been raining crazy hard and flooded the marsh with freshwater, so I knew it was a crap shoot going in.

Thankfully, I was able to check bonefish off my list earlier this year! One day, I'll have to go spend a few days chasing those buggers around somewhere.

Lots of guys in the boat business use him for clients. I've never fished with him but have heard only good things.

"If you want to chase them on the fly look up Steve Hollenshed."

My buddy Steve Hollensed has retired from guiding. He still teaches fly casting lessons.
