Searching for a new rifle hunting tripod that is 10-12' height at the deck. Looking for some type of solid desk for easy access. Would like shooting rails for shooting and camo netting. No- I do not want a blind, this is a sweet area that requires a tripod. Internet shopping has a pretty weak selection. Was hoping someone knew a shop that was making good stuff.

Thanks OB!

Happy with mine from Academy. Look at theirs.

Thanks. Those STTF feeders are really nice, but I'm looking for something with a deck for stability/safety. Old man with bad knees.

Academy 10' is leading candidate but it's supposedly pretty cramped. I'm 6'4".

Sorry for being a whiny *****.

Google for some quadpods and see what you think. Definitely comes with some extra space

A member of my lease just bought this one, and I helped him assemble it and set it up. It had as large a platform as any I've seen lately and includes a decent rail around the seat from which you could attach some camo material. As a bonus, everything in the box was very well labeled with numbers corresponding to the assembly steps. It made a very nice, sturdy tripod for the money I thought. The kit allows you to assemble either a 12ft or 16ft tall tripod.

I believe he bought it at Academy, but not certain.

When the weather is nice, a tripod is the best.

Thanks everyone. I'm going with that Game Winner from Academy. It helps that I've got the annual coupon for $100 off $500 purchase. Tripod is $300, I'll pick up some rubber boots and some camo for a good price.

It has a ridiculous amount of nuts and bolts. But I've been running one for 5-6 years for now hunting and it's been solid.

Unfortunately there are almost no good tripods anymore. They've been sued out of existence.

Take a drill and crescent wrench and you can make it go quick.

I've got an old school Strong-Built in my barn that has never been set up. The same as the one pictured except it is 10' or 12'.

Located near Freer but I can get it back to San Antonio in a pinch. It's yours for less than the Academy version.

By the way, this pic was ripped from the interwebs for example purposes only. Not sure whose phone number that is.

Lemme know...

The strong built tripods are pretty solid platforms.

You got that right! A whole hardware store full of fasteners! Hahaha! However, on the bright side, they do package small subsets of fasteners in plastic bags with numbers labeling each step the fasteners apply to, so at least that's very helpful. As long as you open the bags only as needed for each step, it's not too bad. You kinda need a large work surface to lay out all the parts before starting assembly.

I was pretty impressed by the finished product.

I assembled mine in the field, but if you assemble the top in your garage or somewhere comfortable you can attach the legs to it in the field. Since I did everything in the field during 110 degree weather I nearly died, but it's not that bad. Very sturdy too. I got the shorter 10'er, but the taller one would just be another leg segment I'd imagine.

I have the 16 foot academy quad pod (that's measured to the height you are sitting at so more like 12ft actually)

Sturdy and easy to put together. Climbed it in the dark with a bow in my hand and the platform doesn't feel small. I'm 6'1

Does the box still have the original hardware? I'm in South Texas so we could probably make this work.

Hit me up at burntacct5@gmail.com. Thanks!

my dad has the greatest tripod ever built. Strongbuilt made a version called the Magnum or Deluxe very, very briefly.

12 foot. 3 legs. 3 bolts. no cross bracing because they used thicker square tube. bigger platform than the standard Strongbuilt with a fold down piece that covers the ladder when you get into the stand. i searched for years for another one.

Old thread but wanted to pass this along. I've been looking for a few tripods. I like South Texas Tripods but they're pricey.

These South Texas Tripods are my vote. Have killed a train car load of deer on all kinds of public land terrain all over the state.

OP here- I went with the 10ft Game Winner and have about a dozen hunts in it. Very sturdy and quiet. I also had the 20% off CCA Academy coupons and caught it on sale for the above price. Definitely a bargain. Would buy again.
