I know this is the OB and this is a little off topic, but I figure someone would know the answer to this. Does anybody know if they test both eyes at one time or do they test individually? Thanks in advance.
Last time I took the test it was one of those machines that you peered into and you read it. It wasn't you reading a chart across the room.....i think.Bonfire97 said:

But I mean, yeah if you can, bring both eyes.....

I just did this with both of my teenagers to get their permits. They did:
Both eyes
One eye
The other eye
And it was a chart on the wall

It's not even the vision of old folks that has me concerned when driving. It's more their slow response time. I'm nervous as hell any time I ride with my 72 year old father. And his vision is fine.
Generally, starts at the top with an E! I memorized the entire chart. Being a smart-ass, when I took the test, I turned my back to the machine and called out the letters. Sadly, my license now requires I drive facing the back seat. While I can't see where I am going, I have a birds-eye view of where I've been.AustinCountyAg said:
memorize the letters. basically every chart used is the same
Correct. I am 70, see well, and response time is fine. Problem I have is sexting while I drive.oklaunion said:72 is not old.AJ02 said:

When I die, I want to go quietly in my sleep. Just like my grandfather. Not screaming and yelling like the rest of the people in the car.
Having proof from an ophthalmologist reminded me when I went for my physical prior to being drafted. Went through all the various stations and tests and at the end they call out your name and whether you were qualified for the draft and said your draft board will be in touch with you in xx days (I suppose a letter with your classification). Person after person ahead of me was disqualified. When it came my turn, they said qualified.UTExan said:
Does Texas have a rule that if you bring in proof of good Vision from an ophthalmologist you can bypass the vision test? My eye doc in Utah does a lot of these, so he guild out a form with my biographical information, does the eye test and then e-mails the results to the Utah Drivers License Division, and they are good with that and don't require a vision test until it's time for renewal.
