I'm looking to break the 3-F rule again.

Breaking the 3-F rule, as I know it, involves getting married......

Can't help you with trouble areas to look for, but I've got an Aggie friend with a Mooney. He loves it. I've only flown with him a couple times. Nice plane. I'll text him a link to this thread.

I was a fractional owner in a short body Mooney for 3 years. They are a big step up $$$ wise from a simple trainer with regards to recurring mx. A friend of mine flew a 252 out of Boulder that I flew occasionally and it was nice to have the power to get up over the front range at altitude. As always with aviation. Depends on your mission.

Done that one a couple times already. The other F with the first one. Going for the trifecta.

It's gonna spend summers in Kremmling, one of the reasons for Turbo.

If you haven't sat in one, they are very cozy airplanes and the overwing entry isn't ergonomically pleasant. The M20 is one of my favorite airplanes to fly, of pretty much any variant C or later. Pushrod steering with incredible responsiveness as long as you don't get slow in them.

It was my first complex checkout 30 years ago. The mission is 2, gas & go fast.

My dad built Mooney's for a long time. Amazing planes.

No experience in a Mooney 252, but I've got about 300 hours flying a M20J and owning one in a co-ownership for about 9 years. Currently have it up for sale as life has taken us in different directions. Personally, I'm in the middle of a career change to become a professional pilot and flight instructing right now to build hours.

Great airplane and many fun family trips in it. The J will do about 140-150 knots true airspeed sipping 8-9 GPH. While not the middle of the Rockies, I've done a few trips from Houston to west Texas and a trip to Page, AZ and my M20J did great crossing that terrain.

Well I'm in prebuy now. Naturally, my buddy found a smokin hot deal on an Avidyne 440/540 combo, factory reman, new warranty, for $15k and my 20 year old 430/530 Garmin's.

Haven't even got the stupid plane and I'm racking up bills for goodies.

Shoot me now…
