If you have an Academy near you, just Google Academy pedal boats. It will show you a variety of ones you can choose from. In 2005, we purchased the Sun Dolphin 5 seat slider pedal boat with canopy, Ocean (color I believe). If you have a way to go pick it up, there is no delivery fee. We didn't and I believe they charged us $100 to deliver it (in 2005).

The canopy can be put up for shade or left down. Seats are removable. If you have to have it delivered, you're probably looking at somewhere around $1000 total, including delivery fee and tax (for this particular model).

I went onto Academy's website and below is what they say about this particular pedal boat.

1) Seats fully recline to create an on the water sun lounge for two.
2) Pedal boat has 5 seats with high backrest.
3) Super tough paddle wheel for durability
4) Maintenance free bronze bushings for longer life
5) Built-in storage area to keep your valuables safe and dry
6) Fishing rod holders
7) Canopy included
8) Beverage holders included allowing you to stay hydrated.

Weight capacity for this particular model is 530 lbs. It weighs 117 lbs itself. It has a limited life warranty. It's easy to maneuver and operate.

Academy also offers more expensive pedal boats that may provide a few more bells and whistles and/or possibly made of higher quality construction material. The one we purchased lasted for years and was great fun for our two sons when they were younger growing up (they're now 33 and 27, married and live off on their own).

Good luck with your search.

Not much help but. We have one that came with our lake house. It's literally sat out in the sun and weather for the last 15 years and it's as good as new. It does need to be stored lifted up sideways or itll collect rain water. And its a touch heavy.

Oh and expect your grandchildren to argue over the other person not doing equal work or not doing it right. My kids like to take it out but it usually ends in drama.

Don't forget the lifejackets.

Ours survived cat 4 Harvey tied face-in to a cedar fence, therefore if the apocalypse comes, I am hiding under a paddle boat. Enjoy your fun memories with the grands.

We have a pedal boat and a couple kayaks. To be honest the kids use the kayaks way more once they get past about 12 years old, I'm not sure of a reason why.

Agreed the Sun Dolphin is your best option from Academy.
