Hunt for 4 booked with Rocky Creek Waterfowl near El Campo 9/14 & 15. Buddy of mine can't go due to work so I have an open spot.

$300 per day for hunt. They do have a lodge. The rest of us are not staying there but they may have lodging for 1 available.

I've hunted with Rocky Creek the past several years and they have a great operation. An old buddy from College, Kevin Dees, is one of the head guides.

I've known Steve for 20+ years but have never been able to hunt with him until this past January. I met a lot of his guides then but I'm terrible with names so I can't say if I've met him or not.

yes, that's what the outfitter charges. Payment is directly to them, not to me.

He's gonna have to buy because I'm evidently over spending on the hunt...

The more the merrier for anyone in the area that wants to join us. Will either meet up Wednesday or Thursday evening.

Make sure to make a trip to Praseks. Trust me on this. Decent BBQ sandwich, tons of great steaks and appetizers pre-seasoned and vacuum sealed. Solid jerky bar. Their poppers and split chicken are excellent. I stop every time on the way to the coast bc my uncle is friends w Prasek and lives there in EC.

Their bbq is average at best, imo.

But their breakfast and smoked/fresh meats are fantastic.

Their pork steaks are harder to beat than a soft dick.

There was a time after my dad passed away that Mike was trying to date my mom, but she wasn't interested. Pretty selfish of her, if you ask me

You could go with us so you could show me what to buy when we stop...

I usually stop there anytime I pass through. Personally, some of their stuff is great, some is OK. I've never gotten anything there that I didn't like.

Their BBQ sandwich (sliced beef, lean) beats the socks off a Buccees BBQ sandwich hands down. Know that's a low bar but still.

Yeah, my uncle is friends with Mike. He's had an "active" social life.

It's okay, but to be fair I'm not a big patty melt fan. My go to is the Cuban sandwich, no pickles add onions.

I agree with Tandy's assessment. Their Reuben and Flat Iron Steak sandwich are my favorites, I haven't eaten there much in the last few years though. When I have it's fine, but there's better choices in surrounding towns for just about anything on the menu. Far better patty melt down the road at Short Stop in Louise if that's your thing, grill is only open for lunch though.

KW's in Ganado has some of the best burgers I've ever eaten

I was blanking on the name; I agree. It and Freddy's I. Wharton are my favorites. Lone Star in Taiton is great too, they've stepped it up the last couple years.

Lone star cafe is definitely a hidden gem. Best CFS in town.

There's a new African themed restraunt in Louise that is good as well, though it's more Greek bros level of dining and price point

In your text you asked where the outfitter is, their lodge is not too far from Lone Star Cafe. We'll have to try their CFS. They were closed last time we were down.
