Been away for a few weeks and walked in to my shop this morning and this suckers web was connected to the shop door and bay door. Bifen XTS here we come.

On a side note, I think I'd like to get rid of the insulation the shop came with. Just seems like a way too good of a home for all sorts of insects and spiders.

Isn't it nice to be loved. Be sure to scratch it under the chin…..if it has a chin.

I actually caught it to show my daughters, but the whole property was due for a bug spray anyways.

Black widows have been as bad as I've ever seen them this year. Not sure if I just missed one and ended up with a big hatch, but I've killed a dozen in the last few days in my barn. Plus I tend to find one every so often in the mailbox. T&P for the mailman!

ETA: Took the kids out to the barn last night to show them the unmistakable web of a black widow so we can hopefully avoid a trip to the ER.

Where are you at? I destroyed its web when I walked in to the shop and tbh have no real experience with them so I'll have to image search their webs to familiarize myself.

Lynn County.

Not super easy to capture a photo, but here's an idea of what you're dealing with.

I remember I was climbing under a wireline truck to help diagnose a hydraulic issue somewhere just north of I20 in east Texas. Got under the truck in the field and there was at least 50 black widows waving hi. Got out of that part of Dante's Inferno and told the customer they had to clean up the truck before I got back under there. Pretty certain they just sold the truck at auction later that month

What they lack in artistic ability they make up for in scaring the **** out of me. Like I said, their web is unmistakable. I know it by sight and feel...

I've been greeted for the last 2 days by a yellow garden spider on the back porch (not my pic above). Not hurting anybody so she got a pass. Alas, she had apparently moved on this morning. Them black widows are gonna die.

Garden spiders are fun to watch and they catch a ton of bugs. Still don't like walking into their unnoticed webs as I become a ninja but I leave them alone

When I lived in Athens, Georgia, I looked up a nearby state park and I thought it would be fun to run on some nature trails. Got a few spider webs, no biggie, but then ran into one of those guys (the spider) face-first.

Cured me of the running on trails for while.

Since you live in Georgia it reminded me of an old friend that says she kept seeing poisonous snakes (to give a reference of how familiar they are with nature). Stayed at their place for about a week about saw 7-8 water snakes and let them know they were crazy. Got a good thunderstorm and saw 2 water moccasins in their bushes and a copperhead around dusk chilling at the base of a fig tree. That was the last time they took care of the garden themselves

Something about Georgia. It's like the Outback. So many weird terrifying insects and bugs.

I have deer, turkey and coyotes on my property in addition to all the other critters. I've only seen rat snakes, tho.
