When I used to travel to Kansas, a lot of the bow hunters I knew swore they had big cats in Central and SE Kansas. I don't think anything was confirmed at the time then.

Does MO have a confirmed big cat population? That's a mountain lion in the picture. Cool to see them expanding (I think)!

According to this yes, definitely confirmed in the area

The construction sites are south of the Missouri River

I haven't been up there but I imagine it is bottom land because they have had flooding at the valve sites this week

Pretty sure there was one killed in Iowa last year, so Missouri is certainly plausible.

The South Dakota population has had wandering males as far as Oklahoma and Connecticut. They are not common but spotted from time to time in missouri.
