The thing that I would add here is if you went this route, you wouldn't need a gunsmith if you go something like Terminus Zeus or Impact on the action. Plenty of people will spin up a barrel and the tolerances are so tight in those actions, you can just put the barrel on yourself.
Correct. All you really need is an action wrench, torque wrench, and a barrel vise of some sort. Well worth the investment to be able to re-barrel your rifle yourself.

Now admittedly if you want to get real fancy and customize your barrel to your reloading dies (or vice versa) and/or to your load specs, etc you might want to get a custom barrel made to custom reamer specs, etc. But really - you're not likely to do that for your first one, nor do you need to.

I am invested in Impact, so I have the action wrench but going Terminus, you wouldn't need it with the Zeus. It just screws on with your hand. I think there are maybe one or two other others that hold those tolerances as well.

Oh yeah - I forgot there are some out there with quick change systems - even easier. But for those like Impact (I also use one) that don't have quick change systems - most are made precise enough to allow for prefit barrels which you can just order online and then torque on (Impact, several from Defiance, etc). Even if buying a premade rifle, I'd get one that that either has a quick change system or allows for prefit barrels - I wouldn't get one that requires a barrel be custom fit to the action. But that's just me because I'm a big DIY guy (that doesn't have a lathe lol). YMMV.

I've since rebarreled this one with a 6 dasher prefit from Proof. Impact 737r lefty, Triggertech Diamond, MPA Matrix chassis.

I appreciate all the advice!

After speaking with folks, I think I'd like to take a class or two. I've reached out to ATX Precision. There was a place in BCS (Lonestar) but all I found was Lonestar Reloading and they don't appear to have a PRS-type course.

Ideally, this would be some place either San Antonio or Austin that provides or has equipment for loan/rent.

Does anybody know of other courses?

I hate all of y'all.

I'm now currently sitting at work looking up 6.5 creedmoor rifles. Wife is going to kill me when I come with a new gun. Better look up diamonds or pearls while I'm at it. In the words of Tiger King, "I am never gonna financially recover from this".
