Best bow shop in San Antonio? Moved back to SA, got into bow hunting while away so I'm not familiar with the shops around here.

Don't know about SA proper, but Leading Edge Archery in Boerne

X2 for leading edge.

I'm a buffoon and dry fired my Halon 32 last summer. Leading Edge took it in, checked my bow for damage, got me set up with new strings/cables, and did it without making me feel like I'm a thorn in their side (Viking archery, I'm talking to you)

I used to use The Bow Shop but I don't know what happened with Fred the owner and the business shutting down.

x3 for Leading Edge. First real bow shop I went into after getting my bow. They set me up without making me feel like an idiot.

Apparently, he took peoples orders (money up front) and then shut the shop down and disappeared. Police reports were filed against them, but I don't know whatever happened with that.

I went to him once and thought he seemed like a sleezeball. My bow was not a Mathews, so he talked **** about it without even knowing me.

Bow Pro/Los Cazadores in Stonewall is my go to. Great guys and rarely a crowd so they have time to work with you.
Dump the rib on Main St Fredericksburg and you will have all day to o talk archery. Win/win

Hopefully they no longer exist. What a piss poor place. The one at canyon lake too.

Pretty sure the one in Houston closed down. I got my first bow from there

Leading Edge is great.

I can't believe any iteration Viking still exists. The guy that owned it in Houston was a decades long a-hole. I feel like maybe his son to the company to central texas. He's also an a - hole.

I didn't even know they'd closed.
I bought an used bow from him based on recommendations from this very board.
This was less than a year ago. When did this all happen?

Judging by the Google reviews, about 8 months ago.

I remember reading about it on Texas Bowhunters forum.

Mesquite Archery in Boerne is owned by the family of one of my tennis kids. Great family! I know they were excited to get this one opened

Well hell. About three months after I bought the bow. Everything I'd heard about the guy online (both here and elsewhere) made me feel really confident that he was THE guy. I was (still am) an absolute beginner with bows and just feeling my way into/through it.
Now I'm wondering if what he told me/sold me was just a bunch of BS. Guess I better head up to Leading Edge and see if those guys can help me find out if I got taken as well.

I had him do some work years ago when his shop was in Speedway and he was nice and helpful. About three years ago, at his "newer" shop in the northeast side, he made a new string for an older Bear bow of mine and again was personable and helpful.

Which is why I was surprised to hear that he shut down and allegedly had money in hand for bows on order.
