How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've got 2 UTV's in Texas that I don't think I ever filed the titles for

The first one I bought in Oklahoma and paid cash. Bought new in 2013 and I'm the only owner. Have the receipt from the dealership and all that. If I never filed for a title can I do that now, 11 years later?

The second one is a unit I bought from a fellow TA'er in 2018 and I'm not sure I ever transferred that title either. What can I do for this one?

I've got VIN for both and paid for a VIN lookup and the title information for both is blank.

Trying to sell both to upgrade and looking like I need titles to make that happen. Anyone have any suggestions?

What are they? Let the next person in line deal with the titles.

I'm leaning this way. Its a giant PITA.

From what I've read, in Texas they aren't really "necessary", but everyone whos called on them has been curious about title, so I figured I'd ask the oracle that is the OB

Both can still be titled, and depending on timing to sell you'd be better off hoping to push it off to the next person. You could take what information you have to the tax office, they'll title both and then make you pay taxes on those two purchases (well maybe not the OK one since it's another state? Who knows). They'll then snailmail the titles which will take who knows how long.

If it gets stolen the owner will want the title.

I have purchased several ATV from people online. Cash. No title. No bill of sale. This is the way I advise going. There is no gaurantee of warranty or gaurantee they are not stolen and it is the buyers problem to worry about.

I've also sold them and never had anyone press on the title when I couldn't produce it since it's not required.

I have no attempted to title any of them because I am not privy to their provenance and I do not want to take the risk.

Ask the manufacturer for the certificate of origin. They will tell you all that they need to make that happen.

Unless they will be driven on the street, I wouldn't worry about it
(I'm not an ATV owner, but I work at a credit union and my department does title work)

For the first one, you can get a MCO from the manufacturer

The second one could be trickier if there is a title in the previous owners name.

I'm happy to help if I can.

Apply for a bonded title. I've done this a couple of times. I won't buy a trailer or atv/utv without title.

Good luck! Also, I was able to get a bonded title from our local Germania office.

When my dirtbike was stolen I didn't have a title for it. When It was recovered, the Vin was scratched off of it and the Officers told me that even if I had the title for it I still would've had to go to court to get it back.
