Fishing. 100%

Hunting. I will wake up w/o an alarm clock to go hunting. I go fishing when convenient.

I don't live near the coast and have never fly fished so maybe I am missing out.

I enjoy hunting more than I do fishing. I fish to get through the off-season but I still enjoy it. It is also something my entire family enjoys doing more than hunting.

The catch, pun intended, is that you can fish year round. I get that you can technically hunt year round but not nearly as easy as fishing.

Definitely fishing.

If I get a big add fish on the line, I get all the fun of landing it and can still make a decision about keeping or tossing it back if I'm too lazy to clean it.

Can't do that with hunting. Well, you can, but it's quite wasteful.

Fishing. I like that it is just about all public, so access isn't an issue. I also like to be actively pursuing, not sitting around waiting to ambush. Still enjoy a good deer hunt, love shooting pigs and really love dove hunting, however I would choose chasing redfish in the marsh as my favorite.

I wish it was fishing. Would be much cheaper and easier to find somewhere to go year round. But hunting is far and away my preference.

I think I've realized as I've gotten older that I really don't even care that much about the actual hunting or fishing. I just love being outdoors in cool places, and it's usually a hunting or fishing trip that gets me there.

That said, I've had opportunities to go to some beautiful places fishing. I don't think I've ever done any hunting out of state. So I'll say fishing.

I sincerely enjoy both, and do all as much as I can.

But per the OP's question - if I could only do 1 for the rest of my life: I would have to choose fishing.

Because
1) I will get more chances to fish than to hunt. Both because of finances, access, and seasons.
2) I believe I will be able to spend more time with my family (kids, someday grandkids) fishing than hunting. Even people who aren't fishermen will come fishing with grandpa for a few hours.

Hunting and fishing cost $$.

For me, fishing costs less.

Sleeping doesn't cost anything.

I dunno, I suck at fishing (sans saltwater) and I've never shot anything hunting.

Salt Water Fishing > Brackish Water Fishing > Bird Hunting > Land Animal Hunting > Freshwater Fishing

It all depends on the particular hunting or fishing trip. I've had a blast doing all of the above and I've been skunked doing all of the above.

Shooting upland birds behind a nice point gives me a chub every damn time. I don't think there is any better hunting experience than a nice covey rise and making a couple clean shots.

The first time I shot a double in front of my grandfather and he commented on being impressed with my shooting, I've been chasing that high ever since.

I'll take hunting. I don't really live in a great fishing area so that might be part of it but I fish when convenient I hunt far and wide

Hunting.

I grew up fishing all the time with grandparents on a lake house and my dad dragging me to the coast every other weekend.

We would dove hunt a few times a year. Deer/quail by getting invited to family friend ranches, although very nice ranches in STX, but only a few times a year and only shooting does/culls. Never had as much access to hunting, so I like it more.

That said, would you rather:
- catch a 30" trout.
- catch a trophy bass (12 lbs?)
- shoot a 180" whitetail.
- other

Hunting whilst hungover is fairly manageable and quite normal.

fishing hungover is awful. Even worse wading, which is the worst activity ever. If God wanted you to walk when you fish, he wouldn't have invented boats.

Hunting. And it's 100% about the bonding for me. Work weekends at the lease, late night campfires, getting away from civilization. The thrill of the kill is very far down the list on why I love hunting. Most of my fondest memories don't involve antlers.

Then fishing.
Then hunting in a blind.
