Watched a stupid YouTube video and decided that I NEEDED a home defense, tactical shotgun. Anyway, if I was going to put an optic (simple red dot) on this picatinny, would I still be able to co-witness the irons? Or am I gonna need a new, lower sitting mount?

It's a shotgun for home defense. If you need any sights at all, then either you're shooting from too far away or using a slug

It's more to look cool

Stupid purchases? All the time. Just bought a 12" Vangcomp SBS. No idea why. But it looks cool.

I have an entire safe of stupid decisions.

I tried a T2 in a low mount on the rail of my 1301, and wasn't super in love. Ended up landing on a Rusty Nut Designs with an MRO and it's pretty good. Aridus Industries makes a good one too for RMRs.

After a few beers, my brother sold me a beater Hi Point 9 mm carbine for $75. That was a few years ago and I'm still trying to convince myself that I came it ahead on the deal.

About two years ago I was trying to buy a Rossi lever action in .44 mag on Gun Broker. I wasn't paying attention while bidding on two rifles and accidently ended up buying both.

About 6 months later, I did the exact same thing and ended up with two 1911s

Haven't done it yet, but I'm thinking about picking up a Steyr AUG. No good reason for me to own one, other than I just want one.

Come to think of it - that's reason enough........

A SBR in .32 ACP is super smart.

My most stupid decisions involve selling, not buying guns. In my life I've sold two guns, a Ruger Super Blackhawk and a Marlin Guide Gun that I regretted selling and ended up purchasing replacements years later.

In 1996 (starving Senior at A&M) I sold my SKS with black folding combat stock for $85 so I could go eat dinner at Ninfas.

Everything I've heard is that it's an excellent gun. I wouldn't bother with a red dot. If you want to add something fancy I'd probably go with a laser sight so you know where it's aimed without having to line it up. Preferably go with one that turns off / on with movement if it's home defense and will be kept in a stationary position (e.g. not in a vehicle). Should also be able to side mount like a light and then it won't interfere with existing sights.

Try buying a run of the mill MP5 forgery from a sketchy manufacturer with a 16" barrel and ending up with a SBR MP5 SD, doing all of the work yourself.

Stupid doesnt even start to describe that decision.

These aren't duplicate emails!

I have a Remington 870 tactical that I used on patrol till I retired it after I qualified with my AR.
The 870 has zero optics on it, no light, does have a sling that holds 15 shells, plus a buttstock sleeve that holds 5 shells. Only ammo I use is slugs. Optics on a shotgun is just pointless.

I'd just like one of those!

I don't think you will be able to co-witness with the stock rail mount. I went with an an Aridus CROM and Holosun 508
