I'm considering installing a Big A(ss) Fan in my shop. Expensive but apparently they move a lot of air.

Anybody use one or have a better solution?

Currently running just a round, roll around floor fan.

I put two out on back porch and a Home Depot brand 72" inside. Don't notice any difference except the extra weight left in my wallet.

Check out Macro Air. Often cheaper.

Global industries has some affordable shop fans. We run the 8' in our building.

Better get your wallet ready on the big A fans….I just installed a 100" Westinghouse industrial fan in my horse barn but haven't hooked it up yet.

I got a Fanimation 8 ft diameter fan for my back porch a few years ago. Also got a quote for BAF. The Fanimation was about 1/4 the cost. No complaints at all on the cheaper option, it puts out a comfortable breeze.

I've never owned one, but I've been in Arenas that have them

On an August night, you'd roast without them on. With them on it was ALMOST comfortable.

Had 6 or 8 of them. It was probably 150-300

Just ordered one last week for our 60x40 shop. Home Depot had the 10' version on sale almost $800 off. Might still be. Their warranty and customer service sold me after doing some comparisons and visiting with other owners.

I bought 10 ft fans from Global Industrial. Haven't had them long but they seem okay. They moved twice as much air as the Minka Aire fans I have (per spec and observed) and appear to be similar quality. They were $700-$800 each.

I really wanted a BAF but wound up going with this unit from Modern Forms. It does a great job moving air and even has a "breeze mode" that automatically adjusts the fan speed intermittently to mimic a natural breeze.

My only complaint is that the switch is proprietary and I can't integrate it into HomeKit. It does have its own freestanding app so it isn't a huge deal, I just can't integrate it into my Siri controlled scenes.

It is the Modern Form Windflower 80" model. I'm sure it would do well in an enclosed area like a shop.

Have this on back deck. Metal blades. Really pushes the air.

Buddy of mine bought a BAF knock off from Amazon for about 1/5th the price he got for the BAF. He said it works great and had no regrets.

Like all the other poor broke bstrds in here, i wanted a BAF for my shop but ended up going with a cheaper 100" from Westinghouse via Amazon.

It blew a DC control board after the first day, but Westinghouse/Amazon was quick to respond and sent me a replacement board and remote a couple days later.

It's been pretty good for the price (~$600, i think) and moves quite a bit of air and is dead quiet. I dont have a BAF to compare it with, but for the extra $3k that BAF wants, i have to think the value is there.

I have this one and it works great, moves a ton of air in my 30x40 shop.

BAF is simply a manufacturer of course, and they are proud of the name. The type of fan is called HVLS (high volume, low speed), and they are plentiful at all price points and sizes from different manufacturers.

Sorry I don't have a rec, but just want to clarify a bit.

I do buy them on the commercial side from time to time for large warehouses. Many archs will spec BAF, but when we give owners an alternate deduct for another brand, like Arbon/RiteHite, they often take it, as other manus can be up to half as much, and the performance is the same.

Bond Bridge should allow you to integrate it with Homekit

I don't use Homekit, but it works great for all of my remote fans both RF and Zigbee through Hubitat and HASS

Where are you located? I am a manufacturer rep and might be able to sell you one of these.

I'd be interested in a quote, have a 30x50 barn with 16' ceiling and looking for something to circulate air when the breeze stops. Bandera Brent gmail

Macro Air. Get the model with Gearboxl. I will be cheaper than the PM motor direct drive.

P.S. Macro Air innovated the HVLS fan. Big Ass Fan was a distributor of Macro Air and stole the idea and came up with a better name.
