Got these bad boys about 6 weeks ago and since then, they've really started loosing their color in the peddles. Some new flowers have sprouted and are rich but the existing ones are really starting to brown. They get sun for about 3-4 hours in the morning and that's it. Shaded otherwise.

1 is nikko blue and the other is purple.

I've been watering them about 1x 3-4 days until the pot starts draining at the bottom. Thinking it might be over watering or a nutrient deficiency? Not sure. My grandma loved and cared for many hydragenas in her day but she's since passed so I can't ask her.

Maybe experiment with pushing them back to the wall to reduce sun exposure. They're finicky. I'm struggling with a couple myself. Might be my first and last hydrangeas. Man they're incredible when they're healthy and blooming.

Hydrangea bloom color is dependent on soil pH

My wife has had them for years. You need special fertilizers and soil additives to get the color you want, which you can get most places. My wife uses Super Bloom and a soil acidifier to turn them blue.

How long has it been since those blooms opened?

Also, our best ones are in very indirect sunlight. Looks like yours are exposed to direct sunlight based on the pics. May want to try giving them more shade and see if that helps.

How long have you had them and where did you get them from? Back before Christmas we bought some beautiful poinsettia pot plants that were full of blooms. They went to crap pretty quickly. Turns out each pot had one rooted plant in it with a bunch of blooming cuttings pushed in around it to fill them out.

I got these about 6 weeks ago as an early mother's day gift to the wife. Bought both the pots and the plants (already blooming/blue & purple) from Costco. Just bought a bag of organic soil (also from Costco) to put inside the pots to plant them into.

I will work on the ph and that. I've got a bottle of Tiger Bloom left over and will probably look at using that or another product to get the acidity up.

That just seems like a lot of blooms for that size plant

Tiger bloom is the bomb, I use it on my pot plants and have not had a loser yet!
I also collect rain water, it's the best way to water and it's easier to get the ph right for me.
If you do use tap water, collect in an aluminum or metal container and let sit a few days.

Gotta make love that Costco sized value!

Got one from Costco as well a few weeks back. White. Flowers started drooping and turning colors. Foliage looks healthy. I just attributed to a super fertilized decorative plant rather than a young plant to keep. Most of those nicer flower plants from Costco are grown strictly for a 1 season amazing bloom show. Let me know if you find anything that works.
