I'm looking to buy an extra hog gun for guests at our hunting lodge. Looking for something solid, middle of the road.

PSA has what looks like a pretty good Memorial Day deal:

Anyone have any experience with this or maybe the 18" from PSA?

They call it lightweight but haven't seen an actual weight anywhere.

I read that as a lightweight handguard. That rifle has to be fairly hefty.

I don't have an AR-10 from PSA, but have used several of their build kits for AR-15s. They all run fine, but over gassed. The one you are looking at has an adjustable gas block, so that should help.

Overall, PSA is solid for the money. Especially for an "extra".

Thanks. Yes you are correct it's lightweight handguard.

My only complaint is that they are heavy. I am considering selling mine and buying an SFAR.

AR-10s are heavy and more bulky. Just curious as to where you are hunting hogs, in open fields or thicker woods? I have found that in thicker areas there is little advantage for an AR over a bolt gun or even a brake open (TC for example) as one accurate shot is usually all one gets. However, if in more open areas where multiple shots are an option, why not consider a cartridge that can be fired from an AR-15 platform.
