Shocking news! That rigorous surveillance program they have for deer transport is working so well!

Why even bother anymore if they've already decided not to do anything?

Deer breeding = terrible idea and main vector for propagation.

END IT. It is against the best interests of the resource and the sport.

There is no shortage of deer in Texas. We do not need breeding programs.

But wait! There's more! Add a facility in Sutton County to the list. We are up to 22 breeder facilities with positives and 23 counties. How long will we let them keep doing this? The answer to stop the spread is so blindingly obvious at this point. I just can't understand how TPWD and TAHC are so derelict in their duty to the people of the state that they keep letting people move deer.

Yeah, I know. It just disgusts me to see an entire agency bow down to outside money in a way that is so blatantly against the very mission the agency exists to fulfill. Their mission as THE wildlife agency in Texas is "to manage and conserve the natural and cultural resources of Texas ... for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations", and they are negligent in performing that duty when it comes to deer breeders and CWD. Just makes me sad because TPWD is actually really good in so many other ways.

Right there with you. Would share that I have attended some recent meetings in MO. There equivalent to TPWD, MDofC, is really pushing some strong new changes to curtail the operations in MO. They are picking up a lot of support in the state legislature. Looks promising.
Guess who is the strongest lobbyist and creating the most resistance? .... all breeders and organizations out of Texas.

Has an organized group ever won a lawsuit against TPWD? The only article I could find was an East Texas Breeder is suing TPWD.

I know there was a past case where breeders challenged TPWD's right to be able t tell them what to do with their deer, and they lost that one. I believe this current lawsuit is by a breeder hoping to forestall a complete depopulation of his herd because he is refusing any of the other options TPWD offered him to avoid doing that. He will almost certainly lose that one as well, even if he finds a sympathetic local judge for the initial case.

ETA: I would be really interested to see whether somebody could win a lawsuit to force TPWD to stop allowing deer breeding/transport on the grounds they are endangering the wildlife they are tasked with protecting. The landowner next door to the ground zero breeder facility in Medina would be an ideal plaintiff since there have been positives detected on their property.

The nice fella with the current court case is such a fine upstanding citizen. He is trying to hold onto his herd all the while knowing he is THE reason that CWD has spread into the surrounding counties. He is a liar, a thief and you risk losing your shirt if you try to do business with the guy. (yeah, yeah.... don't give me the line....but not all breeders are bad.....you will destroy their lives). They can pivot and figure out something else to do.

Time to go nuclear on all, YES I DO MEAN ALL, breeding operations in the state.
Time to unleash hell on the good ole boy network between the nutless tpwd

I don't care if it hurts families that are in the business. This is greater than "the business" of breeding.

F 'em. F 'em all. Peta is the lowest form of life on the planet. Will it take an organization like that to get the wheels moving against what is being swept under the rug by breeders and state officials? The asshats at tpwd are turning a blind eye even though they know EXACTLY what is going on. If tpwd won't do anything about it, who will???

Well hell it might be up to an organization started on TexAgs to start the ball rolling, this isn't right by anybody's standards. The state and the people own the wildlife and we must be stewards of the land, for generations to come.
