How long do you want to ignore this user?
We have a freestanding tub with a Telephone Style Deck-Mount Faucet and the cold water handle has become hard (almost impossible) to turn. I have never torn into this style faucet so looking for a little guidance or advice before I tear something up…
Edit to add - faucet is about 5 years old and used very rarely.

Any advice appreciated.

The domed part (that is right out front now that you've removed the handle) should screw off, then you should be able to see what you need to do to access the cartridge

I replaced a cartridge in one of mine recently but didn't realize there is another small o-ring underneath the cartridge. Be sure you check for that too or you get to disassemble it twice.

Just FYI Moen has a lifetime warranty. Call them up and they'll send you new parts for free if you're the original owner. They didn't ask me to send in any receipts or proof of ownership.

First time I replaced a valve I paid the $50 myself. Next time the finish was coming off a handle and a valve was sticky I just called them and they sent everything. Just had a shower valve go out last week, 5 minutes on the phone and I've got a new one coming. Of course now I've had to replace every valve within 7 years of owning them but at least they're free and with all this experience I can switch them out pretty quickly.

Does the water to the house need to be turned off first? Seems like water be everywhere once the cartridge is out.

See the examples in this link. It is basically a plastic sleeve that contains the valve, Faucet Cartridge Replacement | Customer Support | MOEN You might look on the website for whoever made the valve if it is not Moen as they probably have a video on replacing the cartridge. Looking at it, I am not sure if the front piece is going to unscrew, or if you are going to have to unscrew the union at the back end of the valve and pull it out of the back on that one. Might have to loosen the hot water side to allow it to open enough if the latter is the case. Either way, you will need to cut off the water coming into the house before you try to remove it.

Looks like the handle is missing!

Put that back on and it will be much easier to turn - or attach a pair of vice-grips and call it good!
