I miss this so bad.

My wife and I were regulars at dancehalls in our younger years. The hall of fame. The broken spoke. Gruene hall. Various spjst halls throughout central Texas. Then we moved to the panhandle and that isn't a thing up here. And even when we went back to BCS there was a freaking super walmart where the hall of fame was supposed to be.

A couple of months ago we were at a business meeting in Fredericksburg. One evening the host company rented out Luckenbach dance hall, and had a band from Austin playing. It was awesome. There were times my wife and I were the only ones on the dance floor, but we danced. She was about 1 month removed from hip replacement surgery, but we danced anyway.

The last time I had been to Luckenbach was when I was a student in the early 90's. We saw Jerry Jeff and Chris Wall. Speaking of awesome Texas dancehall music...

But anyway, we are going to try to make a habit of coming down to Central Texas and finding a place to dance any time we get the chance.
Sadly, zero option IN B-CS, but within an hours drive, three different directions..
Western Club (aka Western Steakhouse and Dancehall) in Navasota

J5 Pasture Palace (near Normangee)

and Diamond I (formerly the SPJST Hall), in Dimebox

Even the Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham is the scene occasionally, for some solid TX dancehall music.
June 1st two bands are booked there, info at https://dancetimeintexas.com/

kenney store in kenney is about an hour from BCS

I learned to dance in hIgh school at the Wishing Well Club in Pearsall, Texas.
Johnny Bush was a frequent performer. People would stand at the front of the stage and watch him sing. His voice has a unique vibrato. Glad I was able to witness it and dance to "Johnny Bush and the Bandoleros"!

Definitely Johnny Bush. Green Snakes on the Ceiling.

The most Texas Dance Hall Music of all time!

Al Dean and the Allstars were regulars at the Wishing Well too. I'm a little older than you.

It's me. Living in Kerville for the past 10 years or so. I miss Leakey, but it's changed a lot, not the same town I was raised in. Hope all is well with you.
