My son the last few years has gotten into thermal coyote hunting, and he took this picture morning after one of his hunts. He was staying in a hut over looking a cow carcass and shot this one and one other around midnight. Going to retrieve the kills the next morning this is what he found. Has anyone else ever seen coyotes eating coyotes this quickly after being shot? Since they are not worth anything this year he has dug a hole and dumps them, many have been drug out & eaten on?

Do we know for certain that coyotes are eating dead coyotes?

No hogs out here.Only thing that could have eaten on this was another coyote. This all happened at night.

Don't know about this one but last year I killed a coyote one morning and 2 mornings later I killed another with the first yote's leg in his mouth.

They are opportunistic and there are limited opportunities in desolate areas.

This is in Northeast Colorado prairie region. No hogs only thing capable of this is Coyotes, Badgers, or Swift Fox. I know coyotes are opportunistic but with plenty of rabbits and mice around I would of thought a dead coyote that he would have been palling around earlier with would be further down the list of a late-night meal.

Some kind of raptor started in on it last night

Does look like it could of been fed on by a eagle possibly but he would have had to of done it at daybreak since this occurred between midnight and 7am. This could of happened. The coyotes in the pit being drug out and chewed on not sure of.

We've got pics coyotes eating corn at the feeders in the last couple of weeks, never had it happen before

A coyote wouldn't begin eating another animal along the rib cage. They would start at the at the softer, larger meaty portions of the carcass. Birds usually start at the eyes or butt.

That looks like a Chupicabra got it …
