My dad dropped a project in my lap over Christmas. He wanted me to make a gunbelt and holster for a friend of his. So This was my first attempt to do this type of belt and a western style holster. Learned a bunch doing it hoping it fits everything right. I only had a chance to take some measurements before the old belt and the gun had to go back.

This is for a Ruger .327 that is a colt single action style revolver. He wanted cartridge loops on the right side. I would have put them further back but that is where the man wanted them.

Revolver style for reference

Thanks!! It is made out of show harness so it should hold up well. I use the same leather for my duck straps for the durability and weather resistance.

Interesting placement for the cartridges, but to each his own. Nice work.

I thought the same thing. Dad told me he wanted them on the right because in the back the guy's motorcycle seat pushed the cartridges out. So I did what he wanted. Hoping it doesn't mess up a draw if he needs to.

Why not put the cartridges on the left side?

Don't know. He said he wanted them on the right. Maybe he is thinking he'd be better with his right hand during reload.

I think most people find it more natural to load a single action revolver with right side loading gate using their left hand to hold it and rotate the cylinder while their right hand feeds the cartridges. Feeding with your left hand would have you reaching over and around the revolver to slip a cartridge in it and it would be hard to rotate the cylinder in my opinion.

Good looking holster and belt. Really like the dye job on it

Thanks, dyeing is one of the most difficult parts of any job. I've tried so many different techniques I can't keep up with them. I can count the number of times it's actually worked the way I intended on one hand. This one came out pretty good but definitely not how I planned it.

And agree, the scorpion is greatness!
