How long do you want to ignore this user?
About 3 years ago I took a favorite shotgun of mine to Texian Firearms for some gunsmith'ing work. The owner was helpful and gracious but as bad luck would have it my shotgun, not particularly valuable but a favorite of mine, was one of the guns stolen in a break in that he suffered.

Justin was quick to let me know about this and adamant that he would make me whole and he really went out of his way to do so. Over the course of 3 years, a pandemic, and him being slammed he never forgot about this small deal and even when my schedule of getting up to the Houston area got flaky he was always eager to help and accommodate me. This last weekend, due to my dragging my feet, he got me a very decent replacement and was extremely gracious about it.

I just want to thank him, as well for selling me some ammo at the height of the panic, for being such a stand up businessman. He has a customer for life in me.

Dude, it is my pleasure, and I cannot tell you how much I appreciate the kind words. The whole situation sucked and I just wanted to do what I felt was right by you.

Best judge of a business IMO is not only how they get things right but how they respond when things go wrong. Good stuff and not surprising given eye guys past!

Only had a few dealings with him as I live in Bryan, but the few times I needed help getting something built or bought, he has gone above and beyond my expectations. Great business owner.

Justin has done me right as well and made up for a mishap years ago on botched suppressor paperwork and a flaky aggie lawyer that was supposed to make a trust but went mia.

I will gladly do business again with Justin in the future

Ive known EyeGuy since he opened the doors to the shop. It has been a pleasure to get to know him, go shoot with him and soo to be hunt/guide him (if he gets his sh*t together lol). He is one of my closest friends despite being 1300 miles away. Hell of a gun guy, but a great friend.

I grabbed 3 ARs from him during the glut in the market during the middle Trump years for future use of my then toddlers/infant. Awesome experience. I definitely still recommend him to others and would keep buying from him if I wasn't so far away now

Geez, guys, thanks. I just.... wow.

These last eight years have just flown by. In fact, I still remember doing group buys for oakleys and costas for my old eye doc with Texags as if it were just a year or two ago. I remember talking to one of my old docs when I was setting out on my own and he gave me a lot of great advice, but the biggest thing that has stuck with me was when he told me that my sense of time was going to completely change. Years would only seem a couple months... and while I didn't quite know how to process that then, it definitely has become one of the things that I've noticed the most.

I've called this business a roller coaster before, but it's actually more like one in reverse. On a roller coaster, the biggest thrill and the biggest scare are the first giant hill. This business, it just seems like the thrills and scares keep getting bigger and bigger the longer that I'm on the ride.

To be honest, there are things that I could have done better. Sometimes me directly, and other times by choosing to surround myself with the wrong people. In fact, there were times that I nearly hung it up. I even remember typing out a very long post for the board to see if there would be anyone interested in buying Texian at one point, though it never got posted. God knows how many hours I've spent writing things on Texags only to decide that it probably isn't best to post sometime so I delete it. I'd love to have just a tenth of that time back, haha. Seriously, though, one of the biggest things that have helped me through it has been the support of Aggies, in general, and especially this board. Well, except for HoytAg. He's just a trouble maker.

I know that I probably could have made a business without the support of this group. It would not be the Texian Firearms that we have today, however, and I would not have had anywhere near the success or joy that I have had from running the shop if you guys hadn't been around. From helping people discover the joy (and more importantly the responsibility) of owning their first gun to the people who go out of the way just to meet me in person (the record so far is a very wonderful Ag that was able to come by the store to meet me during a freaking layover as he travelled to or from his home in South Carolina).

Again, thank you so much. I'm looking forward to hopefully many more years of working with you guys.

Outstanding! That's great to know, and thanks for sharing OP!

I've been a member of this board for a comparatively short time compared to most of you, but in that time, EyeGuy has impressed me as a good, helpful, knowledgeable guy. Great to hear he's the same in his business dealings as well!

In reality you went well out of your way to be accommodating, no need to thank me for relaying the truth. You own and you operate a first class business and it is a welcome thing in today's world. I really appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing. Can't believe its been 8 years. I still remember when you were trying to decide on a name for your shop and came here to get people's thoughts on those names. It's interesting to hear of some of the difficulties and even contemplating selling or closing your shop. Obviously we have no idea of the things you've gone through beyond the big things like the breaks ins. I think for many of us looking from the outside in it seems like this really cool thing to own a gun store and you've been successful to make it this long. Just goes to show you never really know what's going on behind the scenes.

Wow- 8 years. I remember going in sometime around month three. I remember the knife box grab bag deal- still find some of those around the house.

I bought one of the first AR group builds and had a problem with the extractor on the bcg, took it back in. Justin grabbed it and checked it out, swapped out for a higher quality bcg and sent me on my way- no questions asked.

Another time I dropped off a FUBAR'd pistol for some gunsmith work. I don't remember how long it was (this was back when his gunsmith was way behind), but longer than he had I initially told me the work would take. In any case, when the gun was ready he only charged me his cost.

There's a consistency over time here that is commendable. I don't post these examples to impugn his business, every business owner deals with QC and 3rd party problems, but to show in every case he went above and beyond to take care of it.

I don't live in the Houston area anymore, but still refer everyone who asks to Texian and they will always be my first call when I want a new toy.
