Trying to help my recently widowed sister sell and old boat. Can find the key to the trailer hitch lock.

Looks like the picture below. Any ideas?

A small sledge or perhaps a regular framing hammer will break that in half with ease. It's junk, luckily for you in this instance.

I'd go sawzall route or cutoff wheel on a grinder. Beating it with a hammer is the hard way to get through it and the easy way to damage the hitch.

Yep. Did this myself when the same lock cylinder rusted inside. Will have it cut off in 2 minutes.

Be careful with the abrasive cutting disk. I stopped using them after seeing one come apart with a fury. These are really nice.

The angle grinder or sawzall barely get used any more though. Worth every penny if you're already running 20v dewalt.

Broke this lock today with a hammer. Sawzall struggled against the hardened loop.

And hammer on the key side will work fine. The yellow part is cheap metal and will break.

Those are the same as the Metabo cut off disc. They work nice.

That guy rules. No BS theme song or whatever. Just straight to work.

I can now pick hundreds of locks and have no faith in any padlock past being an inconvenience for a determined person.
