In the last decade I can't recall ever seeing anyone shoot 5.7 at a match or class.

I always liked this cartridge and liked that they came with interchangeable barrels

PSA has their 5.7s that come with 23 round magazines, thats a lot of ammo
You can build a Rock for:
$200 for slide, no optics, no thread barrel
$150 grip/frame (better on sale or bundle)
$20 per magazine
---------------------
$370 total
You should not have told me that...
Which Bundles?

The Sniper Green bundle - https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-compact-complete-polymer-frame-psa-5-7-rock-complete-frame-sniper-green.html

The FDE bundle - https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-dagger-compact-complete-polymer-frame-psa-5-7-rock-complete-frame-sniper-green.html

I have watched all of his videos and actually the on the Ruger LC carbine is what brought me here to ask about the experiences folks here have had with the 5.7 x 28 round.

Appreciate all the feedback, for those of you out there that shoot competitively, how does it stack up in that arena? Price of ammo being a downside of course, how about performance? Worth the extra cost over 9 mm and/or .223?
Competitively in what sport? It's not going to make power factor in USPSA or IDPA even out of a P90.

So, I'm a big fan of the caliber, due to very low recoil, lightweight guns, and easy to rack slides.

(AKA, Presence, Placement, Penetration and Practice trump everything else - bit rough on practice given the noice and cost)

They are incredibly loud, though.

It's either inherently accurate, or the way people are making the guns makes them accurate.

I'd avoid the Rugers, until they release another generation. I have two. Half of the mags don't run, which is apparently a gun problem not a mag problem, so I have to send my guns back to Ruger along with the mags.

The new M&P 5.7 is a very good looking platform, and folks seem to shoot it incredibly well.

The internal hammer, and…fixed barrel are kind of interesting (latter for use with possibly a 22 suppressor). TFB's Reeves guy seemed to like it.

It does look to blast casings quite a ways though, for tight gun range stuff. It will apparently eat whatever ammo you feel like paying to throw at it.

Thinking it is a user problem and not the gun. I have 5 mags and interchange them from the pistol to the carbine with no issue. 1000 rounds through the pistol and 300 through the carbine.

Love the Ruger platform.

I want to be talked into this round - especially since my 22 silencer will work with it. I just don't know why I'd invest in it. Seems a little too big to carry, and a rifle probably won't take down a hog at 100 yards.

Again, I love the concept and (sadly thinking of Ft Hood), seen how devastating that round can be.

How is this not another novelty gun like a Desert Eagle?

It's totally a fun gun. With the carbine, we ring steel at 50 yards(white plates) with a holoson red dot.

With the pistol, we have steel plates and the targets that spin around. Just a real fun gun to shoot.

I am in the same boat, seems it would be another caliber to have fun with and would be good for smaller varmints. My problem with it is ammunition costs. I can't justify it right now as I am trying to get better with my 9 mm and 5.56 and 7.62x39 so burning and replacing ammo. All three seem to be cheaper than I am seeing in 5.7.

Already talked to Ruger about it. I was pretty sure it was a mag problem, as it was confined to certain mags, but they said it was a gun problem - sounded like it was a known issue.

Good design, just some issues on the first release.

I have the RIA TAC Ultra 1911 in 22 TCM/9 MM. It's fun to shoot. Swap barrels and you have a 9mm !911, Two guns in one. That being said i"m looking to move it to make room fo rothers.
