Howdy, Rockport resident. What do y'all consider the best Palm for Texas Gulf Coast. That is with the advent of Global Cooling these last couple of years, I keep loosing plants, especially all the Palms. Is there a best, cold resistant Palm, I know the Palm and Cold Resistance sound like an oxymoron!

Sabal Palm is the way to go.

Sabal palm is native to Texas, I would think anything that can survive the occasional freeze would be pretty safe if you were looking for other choices.

We lost quite a few in Port A as a result of snovid.

We replaced several with Silver Queen Palms that are supposed to be hardy to below 20 degrees....they still look great after the freeze right before Christmas.

The hardiest we have that survived 2021 snovid were the silvester palms. I love the sturdy look of these palms, by far my favorite.

We have a windmill palm (known to be very cold tolerant) that has survived in Galveston County for the last 5 years without any problem. It is also low maintenance which suits me fine.

Pindo/Jelly Palm
Windmill Palm
Mediterranean Fan Palm
Sabal Palm
California Fan Palm (Washingtonia filifera) has been good in every freeze except for 2021 for me.

This is the winner. Only palm that made it through the bad freeze a couple of years ago basically unscathed.
