About to buy a side of beef for our freezer and I figured a Wi-Fi freezer alarm that sends alerts to your phone would be a good investment.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Have a Govee, which reminds me that i need to replace the batteries.

No issues as lon as the batteries are good. App is easy, you can customize your notifications, etc.

If it's an upright consider also attaching a bunji cord to help keep the door fully closed.

Also I keep a red solo cup half full of water frozen.
With a penny on top so it drops if the ice melts.

Helps to let you know if your food may have thawed and refrozen.
Also gives confidence food is still safe if penny is on top but had an extended power outage.

That one looks good but says it only goes to -4. I'm guessing that's probably ok for most freezers but I think some get lower than that…. Idk

I have a Level Sense Freezer Sentry that has been up and running for about a year and a half. It has performed well with no issues. No batteries to change, connects to WiFi and has an app with alarms/notifications.

ThermoWorks also just came out with this one. I haven't used one, but have a lot of confidence in their products.

Those seem neat and all, but when my freezer goes out, its because the power went out. If the power is out, the wifi is out. Therefore, no notification. I guess it would be handy if someone left the door open though...

Edit to add- If the freezer is on a GFCI, and that pops, it would be nice to have.

I use a non Wi-Fi one now. $18 for two freezers

(New Version) AMIR Refrigerator Thermometer, Wireless Indoor Outdoor Thermometer, Sensor Temperature Monitor with Audible Alarm Temperature Gauge for Freezer Kitchen Home (Battery not Included) https://a.co/d/1yX8zvE

I've thought about moving to Wi-Fi for push notifications. I would go ThermoWorks. Also looking for some water sensors for the water heater, stuff in attic etc.

I keep the wifi and wife's business computer on a battery backup. Hopefully it keeps the wifi active long enough for it to send me a note. But, as noted, this is more for gfci trips or one of my kids leaving it open.
