Affordable UTV options

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've been looking for a smaller UTV (needs to fit on a trail with a smallest point of 5'4") to haul manure/debris to the back of the property (7 acres) and to also play around with for the kids (ages 7, 4, 2).
I had an old lawnmower with a Rubbermaid trailer that I was using but the mower is 25+ years old and has bit the dust.

I looked at some today, and man some are the price of a new car (well, when I last bought one anyways). I found these 3 to consider - I was wanting opinions on brand reliability, maintenance etc

A 2015 consignment Odes Raider 2 seater that is pushing it size wise (it's 5'6" across). They're asking $7500 all in.

A new Kawasaki mule that they're asking $7800 plus all fees expecting $9500-10 total.

A 2021 Vitacci 4 seater that is $5000 on consignment. From what I can see this is Chinese made so a little hesitant.

Any advice? Thanks!

Kawasaki out of those listed, never even heard of thebother two.

Pick a band that has dealers nearby, parts available an is common. Some oddball chinese brand that you have never heard of is a huge gamble.

Of those options I would spend the money on the Kawasaki. They are dang near bulletproof.

Not sure on the others but stay away from the Odes. Had a friend with one and it was a total piece of junk.

Edit to say go with the Mule

This is the one area I'm actually excited to see what electric vehicles can do to the market. Unfortunate, the ones I've seem so far are multiples more expensive than the gas engine version.

Over the summer I bought a used 2017 American Landmaster 2WD UTV for super cheap. Evidently, this line was sold at TC for a number of years.

Upon researching prior to buying I found that the company is in Indianapolis and was pleasantly surprised to find great online owners manuals and painless online part and accessory lookup/order.

They are a budget UTV company thus their baseline UTVs are somewhat spartan. But if you don't need all of the bells and whistles with a focus on functionality, they seem to make a good product for the price point.

Get a Honda. You'll thank me when you see all the Polaris, Kawasaki, and Can-Am guys taking theirs to the dealer for maintenance and a belt change.

What is causing the 64" choke point? Might be cheaper to look into widening the trail and just using your truck. If the economy tanks, like they keep telling us is going to happen any moment, the price on used toys will tank.

One of the guys on my lease has a Bad Boy electric cart and seems to really like it. You could look at that.

How about another used mower?

How did you decide on those three options?

If you find a green, gas 2019 Kubota sidekick with a hole in the tailgate & 270 hours for sale on the cheap just know it's probably stolen!

Had mine in the shop for routine maintenance and to fix a CV boot on the rear axle. Crackheads hopped the fence and Jimmied the starter then smashed through the locked gate with it and hauled ass down Bell St. in San Angelo.

The trails are behind the house and it's narrow all the way back, it would be way more to clear it all the way, that's just the narrowest point with 2 large trees I have to squeeze through. I also don't want ruts from my truck all back there. It gets pretty muddy as it nears the creek at the back of the property.

I just drove around yesterday and looked at the places closest to us (in Conroe). I need something pretty quick, as the literal **** is piling up and I need to get to moving it out. I looked at manure spreaders last year and they were $4000-5000 plus just for the spreader. I've looked online for UTVs too, but a lot you have to order and wait for it to be shipped to you.

Lawnmowers aren't much cheaper, and we don't really need another mower. We have a zero turn that does the actual mowing. I'd like to have something the kids can ride on too and have a little fun with, maybe have them 'learn to drive' on it and be a little safer than an ATV, cause I've thought about one of those too. Would be nice for riding down the neighborhood streets too (neighborhood is small, I ride my horse down the streets regularly so minimal traffic).

I did look at some electric golf carts but the whole new battery thing every few years isn't really something I want to deal with.

I have an electric golf cart we use at the lake house and at the farm during hunting season. I have owned it 5 years and have yet to replace the batteries in it. Not sure how long they are supposed to last but they are still going strong right now.

Honda all the way! Used to replace belts on our Polaris and Kawasaki 4- wheelers every year and 1/2 because of pulling a little trailer and with Honda automatics only routine maintenance..

About 5 years ago I bought a Polaris Ranger EV..... strictly for sneaking up on hogs as I also had a Can Am and a Yamaha Rhino.
We now use it everyday on the ranch and rarely use the gas models.
Have never replaced the batteries and it goes everywhere the gas units go.
I paid $11,500 new for it from H&W in Marshall. Literally other than greasing it I have never touched it.
I pull my welding trailer, Jon boat, and 14 flat bed with it as well.
Really been happily surprised by it.
It has the same chassis, suspension and 4wd drive train as the gas version. Rides great as well.

ETA.., we drive it on average of about 4-5 miles per day, everyday, and charge it overnight once every 3-4 days.

A used electric golf cart should be enough given the size of the property and small loads to pull. They're a lot cheaper than a UTV. I put an aftermarket Alltrax speed controller on mine and it has a LOT more torque. I really prefer the electric for just driving around the property and lack of maintenance. It being quiet is a lot more pleasant when you're listening to the radio and cruising around in the evening.

Looks like a souped up Lanham Ranch Buggy on steroids. I want that thing.
