Thoughts on Dinovite / Farmer's Dog / other dog supplements?

I have a 90lb Black Lab who is on Apoquel - $75/month. It helps him but I am wondering if anyone has had good or bad experiences with some of these other dog nutritional supplements, and whether they are worth the money? Dinovite is $125/90 days. The Farmer's Dog is a little different - it's a food replacement so I assume I wouldn't have to buy regular dog food, but for a 75lb dog it says $10/day !?!?

We feed Victor Beef and my dogs seem to love it. But they are family and I wonder if Dinovite could replace the drug (Apoquel). It's not so much about the money ($2.35/day vs $1.50 day) - but if a vitamin / mineral supplement helps that would be preferable to a drug.

Thoughts?

Interested in this as well: our dog has severe allergies with daily apoquel Benadryl and prescription food.

Interested in trying this too

I've had several clients try it, most end up back on Apoquel/Cytopoint/Derm Complete diet. I'm sure I have clients using it that I'm not aware of. Cytopoint injections can be cheaper than apoquel if it is lasting longer (8-12 weeks). I personally have a dog with environmental allergies that does great on Derm Complete diet. Allergies will always be something you're going to need to manage, but we have much better options than we had 5-10 years ago.

When Apoquel first came out it was allocated to one bottle of each size per month per clinic. I knew it worked well because we got calls daily asking if ours came in.

Quick question for you! (sorry for the slight derail)

Is there a reason we can't do the cytopoint injection at home? In addition to being an allergy pup, he also has unreal anxiety when in a car....slobbers EVERYWHERE. It is a killer having my car detailed every time he needs an injection.

Mentioned this to the vet and he said no. we are both comfortable giving injections, especially since its subcutaneous.

Is there a legal or financial reason my vet doesn't want to let us do this? I assume there is a low side effect profile since he gets the injection and then is usually back out within 2 minutes and ready to go home.

I had my dog on RuffGreens. He didn't like eating it.
Switched to Dinovite and he eats that well. It has helped him a lot.
He's on thyroid medication.

He's a 106# chocolate lab.

I know the manufacturer is against it being administered at home. I'm not sure why unless they're worried about the owner accidentally sticking themselves with a needle and it being a canine antibody causing some allergic reaction in the person. Owners give other injections like insulin, Adequan, and subcutaneous fluids all the time. We've discussed letting owners do it but haven't had any ask. You might see if they would send a tech to the house to administer or use a crate in the vehicle to keep the drool contained.

We had a blue tick coonhound that was struggling we started feeding her Dinovite and within a couple of weeks was back to her normal self. We could see the decline when we ran out the 2-3 times over her last 8-9 years. Not sure how many coonhounds make it to 13 but she was a great one!

Our border/heeler had really bad dandruff and ear problems before we started him on dinovite. The dandruff is non-existent and the ear issues are down probably 80%.

He's already predisposed to being high energy but he's 9 and still runs around like a 3 year old.
