We had lots of ranches contact us for trophy or "shooter" animals... they wanted us to do live animal sales to them... they offered to come capture the animals as they had clients coming who wanted a trophy Axis, Auodad, Blackbuck etc etc.
We never sold any. Those animals, when released, will immediately walk the fence lines for multiple days until they finally move into the pasture. They are super easy to hunt during that time as they are disoriented and just walking the fences. Not much "hunting" involved.

Yeah, it got a lot of press and was the talk of the town for some time. My brother went to FHS with the guy's sons....they were something.

Jason Wallace of Alpha Outfitters put my buddy and I on some nice axis bucks a few years ago. I couldn't remember the name of the ranch (it was Rancho Trinidad near Rocksprings, which I discovered has since been sold off into parcels), hence the reason for my delay in responding.

Anyway, Jason is a super nice guy, with reasonable pricing, and he has access to multiple ranches with a wide variety of species. He offers trophy whitetail hunts as well, though I only hunted exotics with him.

For free range whitetails, I've hunted on the 9000 ac Mesquite Tree Ranch in Jim Hogg Co, SW of Encino. It didn't have exotics that I saw, and I wouldn't say it had giant bucks, but my group killed some respectable bucks in the 150s there, and pricing is reasonable.
