Very nice gun. I would be all over it if the threads weren't set back that far. Did you have a a brake and can on it?

I had a kaw valley linear comp. it didn't get quite as compact as i thought it would so i built a 18in rifle upper.

i have an 18" grendel i built awhile ago - why do i keep seeing shorter grendel builds? whats the advantage

Weight and Length make it more maneuverable and easier to transport. Also much more practical to use in a blind/stand, especially with a suppressor mounted on the end. I have an 18" grendel and it's pretty long with my suppressor.

wasnt sure if there was a velocity advantage too - i've only used mine a little in the field so havent cared much about the length with a can.

Shorter would only lead to less velocity, but if it's anything like it's 7.62x39 older brother, then it should do pretty well out of a shorter barrel. I've shot a 12" and it's a snappy little gun.

There will be a velocity advantage... with the longer barrel.

As long as the brace self identities as a non binary trans pan sexual, one would be ok with using the brace.

shooting Hornady American Gunner, 123 gr HPBT:

12" 5 shot average: 2239 fps
20" 5 shot average: 2523 fps.

Only lost 284 fps for 8" less barrel.

Velocity is good. But a 12" Grendel does alright. Doesnt suffer nearly as much from shorter barrels as 5.56 does.
